2014 Fall UCSD Transfer Decisions Thread

@amputee, the message you’re getting should be the new one.

Oh mine changed. Computer Science with 3.65 GPA :-B ^:)^

amputee //// changed~ whats your gpa & major?

@kejun2014 Oh man! I hope this is good news. It seems really similar to the old one though.

@NewGen‌

Computer Science and Engineering
3.72 gpa

Alright I’m going to one up the crazy in this thread. I’ve looked through the 2013 decisions thread and found a lot of the posts regarding the housing trick. What I’ve found:
Everyone that I saw who got the new housing message got in, including some low GPAs.
Everyone who didn’t get the housing message that I saw either got waitlisted or rejected. Don’t take this as a 100% rejection, I didn’t check every single post and not every single UCSD applicant goes on this site.
The housing message is exactly the same as last year.

It’d be great if someone else could confirm/deny the trends.

Okay well here’s some “evidence,” I stalked some user profiles to check if some of these guys got accepted or not.

"I found that 100% of people got in that had the housing status change. The only thing that could go wrong is that one person per 2011 and 2012 had their message revert back and they didn’t end up getting in. "

“I’ve been stalking this thread for a while, guess I should share my experience! I have the “good” housing message, but I didn’t really think I was going to get into ucsd. I’m missing one calc class and have a relatively low gpa as a biology major, but maybe I did get in? I guess we’ll find out!”
-this girl (Lissie93) had a 3.38 and ended up getting accepted.

“So far I got the good housing message, completed financial aid info, and now Facebook. All I have to do now is wait for the official decision which can’t come soon enough.”
-accepted (UCSDBarbra)

"Looking at my housing app, and the previous messages on this thread. I guess I have the “good” sign. "
-Decision: Accepted UC GPA: 3.4 (tsubukichan)

“Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected (strengths/weaknesses): GPA and TAG most likely. (Housing trick worked in my case btw)”
-ParkRanger

“Housing message trick works? Yeah! I saw my message change very early and it turned out to be a good news.”
-CaliDreamGirl

"Housing tricks and financial aid tricks worked for me. lol. "
-mermeid

"For future reference, I had the good housing message but no fafsa (indicated I didn’t turn it in). "
-lilizzle 3.4 accepted

“By the way for next year students who have to wait… I got the housing message change and I got accepted to me it seems like it is a clear indicator if you get the change you have been accepted… thought this might help out you guys in 2014”
-N8dawg404

"^ same. My housing message changed a couple days ago and then I got accepted this morning. "
-KittyCity

here’s the thread
<a href=“**2013 Fall UCSD Transfer Decisions Thread ** - UC Transfers - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1472481-2013-fall-ucsd-transfer-decisions-thread-p1.html</a></p>

Can someone who didn’t get the housing message changed post the old one? I am curious to see how it differs because it seems very similar.

EDIT:

nevermind i found it

here is the old housing message

“Our records indicate that your admissions status will not allow you to proceed with this Housing Application process for the term indicated. Please contact the Housing Office at 858-534-4010 during our normal weekday office hours of 8am to 4pm.”

Here is the new one
“The Housing Office currently does not have updated information on your Admission Status and therefore cannot accept a housing application today. You may come back to this link once Admissions has communicated their decision on your application to UC San Diego. You can check this by logging in at myapplication.ucsd.edu.”

HOPE THIS IS GOOD NEWS!! hahaha

nice stalking work @jihwang :-)

@amputee, I hope this is good news as well! Good luck to you and everyone else!

Nice work @‌jihwang

I believe everything happens for a reason.

i also believe that housing message wouldn’t have changed without any reason.

I can’t say its a proof of acceptance, but i do believe its a good sign.

Mine changed,

Econ major, 3.66 overall gpa, 4.0 req gpa with missing one math requirement.

For some reason a lot of your messages changed to a “good” version of housing however I speculate whether or not that means applications have been processed through their database, but have not been publicly available yet. I have had that same “good” message since the first batch. I TAG’d Molecular Bio, 3.5 GPA.

Wow that sucks, my status didn’t change and with a 3.98 I though I’d have a good chance of getting in.

Guys, the admission process is not complete. It is in the process. So even if your housing message didn’t change, that DOES NOT mean either you are rejected or you are not going to get in. so stay strong guys!! and congrats to those with changed message

I am fairly confident it means absolutely nothing. Keep in mind, CollegeConfidential does not accomodate the majority of applicants in total (we are only a fraction of applicants). It could just be purely coincidental that last year that was the general trend of accepting/rejecting applicants.

@ChemTransfer14‌

Many people say the housing message doesn’t mean anything…

but I agree with @Marmaneous‌ that the housing change may mean that your decision has been made but it is not publicly available yet. Maybe this means that your application is still being reviewed?

Even if your status didn’t change it doesn’t mean anything other than you’re not going to know your decision until the last batch. The negativity should start when the next batch of housing message change occurs and yours doesn’t because that will most definitely mean you got rejected or waitlisted. I would assume those without changes should be nervous April 17th or April 29th. Until then, congratulations for those of you who have gotten the change… For the rest of us, hang in there!! Only a few more weeks!

Hey guys,

What is the financial aid trick? I have not tried this one yet and would like to post my results if it means anything.

Marmaneous /// i think you have a good point in terms of the fact that the number of people on this thread is extremely small.

However, what i think the valuable information is that EVERYONE who got the change in the housing message that Jihwang has looked up WERE ADMITTED.

Therefore, i believe the whole housing message theory is worth considering.

Is it more likely that I’ll be in the last batch if I emailed UC admissions a change recently in my transcripts?

@Marmaneous‌
I think that’s a definite possibility. It’d be nice for next years applicants if we all post whether or not the housing trick worked for us, once we get our actual decisions.

I’m not going to look through the '11 & '12 threads but one guy from the '13 thread said “The only thing that could go wrong is that one person per 2011 and 2012 had their message revert back and they didn’t end up getting in.”

Seems to indicate that the housing status is tied to your application status. It also indicates that your housing status could change so…
