and yes, Mollie hit the nail on the head.

@ Rustgust

Fortunately, I have not faced any racism or financial disadvantage, living in a predominantly black and upper class neighborhood (my dad is a lawyer). My guidance counselor was amazing though, and told me that I should write my essays about poverty and racism and it would help my chances at the Ivy League. Hopefully, this acceptance bodes well for April 1st!!

Does anyone seem to notice one thing…Ivyhopeful had only 1 post when he posted his decision here…and the person who is complementing him has again only 1 post…

I just made my account today, cause my friend told me I should post my acceptance on CC. As for the Rustgust, idk why he only has one post

Rejected. Flat out rejected.

I wouldn’t worry too much about April 1, all you HYP appliers. I got accepted EA to Yale, but not even a waitlist here…

@ IvyHopeful2014:

are you saying you lied on you app essays? That doesn’t seem right–especially to people like me who actually live in a “ghetto” and didn’t use it as a tool to get into a dream college.

@ Ecthelion

I’ve been a member here for a while but never felt the need to post much. I just wanted to respond to IvyHopeful2014 because it seemed really strange, what with his stats and all. I agree with Handala92 that he could be a ■■■■■…I was subtly referring to the great friend for the masses: affirmative action.

Wow this is a slaughter house. In 5 pages there have barely been any acceptances. *** to the max.

yeah, its not, dont worry. In my (admittedly very biased) opinion, after seeing an entire 5 pages of rejections from a group of usually highly qualified CCers, MIT admissions has some incredibly confusing priorities.

^ MIT Admissions has made their priorities abundantly clear. CCers tend not to listen.

@MITChris

I was talking about Yale’s decision to try to lower their acceptance rate for legacy applicants.

I’m very glad MIT doesn’t consider legacy :)

@ivyhopeful2014. You got in b/c you’re black. It’s that simple. Look at all these valedictorians being rejected. We live in a biased world where diversity statistics matter more to a college’s admission committee than intelligence.

yeah… and enemy of pure merit too…dont forget every coin has 2 sides… if we take ivyhopeful2014’s to be true and not ■■■■■… an argument could be made that he got in because of affirmative action and took the spot of an asian/white genius who had toiled harder for it…
but im not being an arse whole (cc censors) ivyhopeful2014 himself could go on and become a great prof, researcher, eng or whtever, and in tht case he might inspire a whole new generation of underprivileged and discriminated people…

in summary adcoms have placed immense trust in ivyhopeful2014 and his abilities… they expect him to lead the way for his fellow brethren (in ghettoes)…he has to set himself up as an example… otherwise he just took the spot of a deserving candidate who might have done more justice to a mit degree…

end of rant-lol
maybe im ****ed, coz i got rejected… if it seems tht i am biased… just ignore me… i will come to my senses tommorow…

Lol I got over it in 30 seconds. Then got over it even more after reading the decisions threads and seeing super-qualified people getting rejected.

@HYPhoper -

Oh, understood. I’m not familiar with Yale’s internal processes, so I can’t speak on their behalf.

we shouldn’t get incensed over AA, ultimately its the white man pushing us down

lol and MIT’s standards have gone from good grades and test scores to building a nuclear reactor (literally)

I’m not over it. I’m going to carry this with me for the rest of forever, just like Benjamin Butler and West Point.

And I should add that I am again being facetious. I do not actually intend to humiliate all of the MIT graduates in New Orleans.

hey guys, let’s not turn this into an aa debate like the one about the yale quads in the yale page. really. dagangsta and ivyhopeful are most definitely ■■■■■■-insensitive jerks who don’t realize the consequences of their actions or the fact that they could be hurting some people who take their posts seriously (and also, they both cerated their profiles only today. let’s not waste our time, okay?

yeah, end it here

yeah, sometimes i wish i had more supportive parents. my mom laughed when she heard and said it was karma since i am not an obedient daughter. but life goes on and we can only grow stronger from facing defeat, right?
