2014 SCEA hopefuls?

You guys are amazzzingg! I wish I could’ve done some of the stuff yall did! Seems super interesting and such great causes.

itsbeenreal–I responded to the thread…but I don’t know if I did it right?? hahah.

emily is having her interview today right?? So excited to hear back from her =]

Lol it might multiply by december when we all get really anxious and excited and can’t drag ourselves away from our computers :P

if i were to get in, i’d attribute it to

 1. luck
 2. luck
 3. God
 4. my ECs/EC-related things: namely, art, and leadership/depth.

So, kids, the Facebook thread idea failed.

Well I guess we have a pretty epic thread to continue here anyways

aww sucks the thread didn’t work, guess we would need to be friends. itsbeenreal, could you still make the group a secret group though??

so…

what did u guys do to today?

I WENT SHOPPPINGGGG!!! and and AND - got a purple dress!!! its light purple, pretty casual, i wanna it with darkgrey/charcoal legging and a belt, which i need, didn’t see the perfect one today.

In the morning, I did some research, but my experiment failed, soooo… Then in the afternoon, I volunteered at the place where I am an interviewer, amongst other things.

And then I did nothing for a while, which is fun during the summer. I planned to write more of my essay today but that is so not happening.

PS, the next few posts will not be a discussion of solittletime’s purple dress, other purple dresses, other dresses, clothes, boys, “MK&A”, Gossip Girl, or anything that could remotely be associated with any of the above, including, but not limited to, skirts, Gilmore Girls, pants, belts, or socks.

i was getting so excited about that thread though! =[

rocker–buut. but but that’s what i do best. just…just…just onnnne post. juuuuust one. =] promise. No more girly talk again.
So cool about your research though…totally fascinated by it!

SO JEALOUS of your dress. I’ve been dying to get like 2984723 cute summer/casual dresses all summer. and i really need to find a cute purple thing (like…i’m having this premonition? that if I don’t get something purple, I for sure won’t get into Yale. don’t ask. I have noo idea why hahah). I officially can go shopping next week! SO EXCITED. I haven’t gone shopping for TWO WEEKSSS.

Didn’t do much today but it was very relaxing. Ran outside while it was sprinkling (sooo pretty. I hate rain but the sun was still out so it was amazing!), touched up on some math for the SAT…read this freakin long book that’s a summer assignment. Then had a girls night with my friends  Haha my stomach hurts so bad from laughing.
Waking up early to take a practice SAT tomorrow so I’m gonna call it a night!

Okay, see, there’s a problem. Solittletime asked what I did today and in order to answer that question I will be forced to violate the terms that rocker has set. I’ll risk his wrath though ;)

I worked on college apps more, ran some errands to get more practice in for driving before my road test next saturday, and then had a girls’ night with my two friends and we had a Gilmore marathon, watched 6 straight episodes from 6:30-11 only with one bathroom break and two food breaks (one for Chinese and one for ice cream). It was incredible.

Guys, I’m so sorry the thread thing didn’t work :frowning: we can all friend each other though if people are cool with that, if you’re suspicious of internet stalking or something you can always put people on limited profile, and then we can try the thread thing again. That’s kind of awkward though because now my little ESSAY on synesthesia is just kind of out there for no one to read  haha

Let’s just leave it here for a while and then we’ll figure out what to do, lolol.

I’m a good critic of essays, so send me yours if you like.

I’m suuuuper happy I’m done with the SAT and the stupid subject tests. I’m still taking one more, but the knowledge that I don’t need to is very comforting. I’m actually enjoying preparing for it. My dorky side enjoys math II.

You don’t want to risk no wrath, yo.

Yes master, I will officially abide by your rules!

I’m also a good critic of essays, I spend ~25 hours a week editing a newspaper, I’m a regular wordsmith yo, so if anyone needs help getting from the first draft stage to a the prospective Yale student stage of their essays just PM me  Seriously…take me up on this if you need the help.

I’m done with standardized testing too! And I did ACTs so I don’t need any SAT IIs and that was a HUGE relief. I’m taking the ACTs again in September just to see if I can raise my score, but I don’t need to so yeah, I’m definitely enjoying studying  I love the English section because it’s so darn easy and I always finish with 15+ minutes to spare and it’s lovely.

I’ve never taken the ACT, but I don’t think I will. It’s super uncommon here in Canada, haha.

It’s cool that you edit a newspaper. I’m my school newspaper’s editor in chief, but the paper’s relatively small and doesn’t take much of my time to manage. I’ve always read a lot, so I have a “knack” for words, lolol.

I will probably send me an essay, once I write more of it. I’ve rewritten every section over three times, and I’ve kept all of the garbage I wrote at first in the document, which now contains 1342 words, only 281 of which I actually like, haha.

PS, I want my Yalie pals in my thread, yo: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-confidential-cafe/756594-headphones-hearing-loss.html</a></p>

Haha, the ACT is relatively uncommon in the US, I can’t imagine how it would be in Canada!
Hooray for being done with standardized testing! Except for AP tests…hmm, but next year I totally want to do something funny on the AP test. Like write down some joke and then cross it out once. That would be fun…haha.

i had no idea how to do this one part of FRQ on AP physics B, so i wrote a little note to the grader. i think it was a story of how we never learned this in class and a description of how clueless and frustrated i was. i got a 5!!

I know the ACT is uncommon, and I don’t know why!? It’s SO much more humane  Seriously guys…and just think, NO SAT IIs? WHAT?

I personally don’t see how ACT + Writing is at all equivalent to the SAT I (which has writing!!) + 2 SAT IIs, but I’m not complaining

Hey guys…I have a question. Do you think Yale appreciates grade deflation? Because my school is rampant with it. People score so highly at my school in every aspect of academia that the administration has taken to deflating the validity of everything to make the average GPA seem more normal instead of inhumanly high. So compared to you all I have a 3.5 UW and 4.3 W, but the valedictorian for 2009 had a GPA of 3.7 UW and 4.5 W…just to give you a perspective of the HIGHEST GPA IN THE WHOLE GRADE (the largest graduating class in the history of our school). Will Yale recognize this from my school’s profile, or will they just look at my GPA and go “BLECH. TOO LOW. BUH-BYE!”? Support please!!

out of 4 and 5 respectively? is that low or normal or high for your school? just wondering where I stand going in here…

sigh…i suppose i’ll obey rocker’s rules as well :)

when i’m done my first draft, i’ll send it to you guys, appreciate all the critic i can get

itsbeenreal - first of all your GPA isn’t even that bad, so either way they wont go blech. but if your worried, have you seen your school profile? if you havent, ask to see it and maybe it’ll clearly state the deflation stuff they do. if your on good terms with your counsellor, you could even ask him to specify this somewhere and ask that it doesn’t hurt your chances. also, how good you are at academics isnt JUST about your gpa, i assume that your SATs and everything are all good, and other things that show your a strong academic student that is by no means justified by the “low” UW.

That’s encouraging

CC is just so DIScouraging…generally. Because the people who tend to come on here are just outta wack and are kind of downers…except in the end I suppose it’s not all about your GPA. And I do take the hardest schedule you can at my school (which luckily means only APs senior year, with the exception of APUSH, otherwise I would have been killing my self all throughout high school, now I only get to kill myself senior year, YES! haha).

AP Lit
AP Cal. AB
AP Spanish
AP Psych
Honors Neurobiology.

dats ma sched

and last year it was

APUSH
H. Span.
H. English
H. Bio
senior pre-calc

p.s. solittletime, i can’t wait to read your essay! I LOVE EDITING. It’s my life. And I’m suffocating inside without editing a single article all summer :frowning: I’m also a huge stickler for grammar :)
