AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. SO EXCITED. just printed it off. I’ll probably be staring long and hard at it all day. Hahah there goes my concentration to read my big freakin huge book. yay yale! LOVE the questions. Yeah, that last one is gonna be tricky but it’ll be interesting to answer. sosososososo excited to get started. THANK YOU melody. I will personally buy you the biggest ice cream cone ever if I ever get to set foot in New Haven =]

chair2–I totally want to do that next year on an AP exam and congrats on your 5! Getting a 3 on the physics exam is a biiiig deal in my school haha (just for physics though…the teacher tends to go off in tangents and teach irrelevant info haha)

Sorry about yalls english teachers All my english teachers so far have been great. Wasn’t too fond of the one last year…but at least she was fair and nice (to me…cause she really like my friend haha)

We don’t have IB but the big difference is the extended essay? Don’t know much about it but sounds intimidating haha!

Physics is like my worst nightmare…I can’t understand anything haha it’s so frustrating. So definitely not taking AP Physics. AP Bio isn’t great at my school…you learn like nothing. And just took AP Chem. Sooo next year I’m taking AP Environmental Science…which is supposedly really easy but at least it’s something I enjoy learning AND can understand.

Melody–Ask questions Haha I guess you can use that for any class but if you don’t understand any little thing, ask someone. It helps sooo much. Just trying to figure it out yourself might end up confusing you haha

hardest class at my school is APUSH and AP Chem I think! And maybe AP Lit. And the higher levels of a foreign language. But the teachers get you reallllyyyy prepared for the AP exam so it’s worth it and you learn a whole bunch.

You stole my victory too! BAH. And I was so looking forward to the ice cream I legitimately was checking both common app and the Yale website like every 3 seconds of my life; I even e-mailed them to ask when it would be out, and today, what did I do? I sat out in the grassy area of the town square and ate burritos and ice cream with my 5 best friends. I SACRIFICED MY VICTORY TO HAVE A LIFE! haha, okay I’m over it.

Could you guys write out the short takes? My computer doesn’t accept PDFs so I can’t see the supplement and I REALLY don’t feel like waiting until it comes out on common app :/

melody–our school’s physics class was a breeze, and it actually wasn’t even AP (we don’t have AP physics), but i think the main thing to do in class is to UNDERSTAND the material. i think the main problem my friends and i flagged was that we knew, maybe, 60-70% of the AP material. so pick up an AP prep book early (and practice off of collegeboard’s released tests) and make sure you’re ready! the curve is also really generous (hence my 5), so don’t feel pressured to know everything.

the hardest AP at my school is probably calculus, yet we find it the easiest AP since we’re SO prepared. my BC calc teacher told me 100% of kids scored a 5 in the past 10-15 years (she lost count)!

then, click on “View” and it’ll appear in GoogleDocs which doesn’t require Adobe, at least to my knowledge.

but if that doesn’t work, then:

IV Short Takes (required)
Please respond in 25 words or fewer to each of the questions below, using the space available after each question.

What would you do with a free afternoon?

Recall a compliment you received that you especially value. What was it? From whom did it come?

What two qualities do you admire most in other people?

What do you wish you were better at being or doing?

If you were choosing students to form a Yale class, what question would you ask here that we have not?

I don’t know if I’d start getting my answers to those questions ready though, because a lot of colleges put up sample application in their off season. Last year when the application was up there was a big notification on the front page of Yale freshman admissions site that said Application for the Class of 2013…

Regardless, could someone type out the short takes for me? Because, as I said, my computer doesn’t open PDFs :/

oh I forgot! itsbeenreal-I might have to message you some of my essays later I would love some feedback before school starts if you don’t mind (that is, if I finish them haha) and I’m horrible at those little teeny picky grammar stuff so I’m sure it’ll help ALOT for people to read over it and correct those haha because it’s hard for me to find them when it’s my own writing you know?

Yep, pretty sure they’re for 09-10 app season because I just found the application instructions and they’re for “entrance in September 2010” so I’m guessing that they updated everything!

here’s the link for the instructions in case anybody wants it?

AHHH. did I mention how excited I am? the sun just came out so I’m gonna go sit in the backyard, under my favorite big old tree and start on this supplement with a big bowl of ice cream and my favorite thinking cap (my headband! hahahah)! yayyyy! ohhh it’s such a beautiful beautiful day

chair2 pasted it for you on page 39 so I thought I’d just re-paste it! haha

and I’ve been checking the Yale website like every week since like last application season hahah and every time I clicked on the Apply to Yale by Paper or whatever, the old application came up and when I did it again today, it was the new one.

=) thanks melody. i’m tres tres tres happy with the questions!!

also, if you guys are still interested, the FB thread might work after all. i was just facebook messaging smile about grad dresses cuz its been forbidden here (lol) and i noticed that you can do it with just emails. like right now technically smile and i have a thread going on and we’re not friends. we could all just write our emails (the one you use for fb) on the group wall and someone can just start a thread that way…might work :)

i almost knew what my answer was for all of them right when i read it, except for what i wish i was better at doing, there are SOOO many haha, gotta narrow it down, same with the 2 qualities.

a) chair2 I’m sorry I didn’t realize you’d posted it for me!! AH. Thank you so much (and smile!)
b) The google docs thing worked! How’d you do that?!?! That would be really good to know for the future.
c) They’re very similar to last year’s, which is surprising!

1) What would you do with a free afternoon?
2) Name one thing of which you are especially proud.
3) What two qualities do you admire most in other people?
4) What do you wish you were better at being or doing?
5) What makes you feel physically and mentally renewed, other than a good night’s rest?

chair2–yeah, I’ve been doing that since last year’s application came out I think haha whenever something reminds me of a question!

I can answer like all the questions except for the last one but my answers are like…a paragraph long because i have so much to say! hahah. So narrowing questions #2 and #3…and #4 down to one or two things is sooo hard.

Yeah, August 1st was mine too. At least I got some drafts of essays. I’ve generously extended my essay writing deadline to August 14! haha the weekend before school starts. Just one draft of each long essay. Just oonnnne. It’s harder than I thought haha

solittletime–GOOD IDEA about the emails and the thread. haha loooved your message about the dresses by the way. My answer is like a mile long :)
