Yeah I’m fairly sure that’s correct. Once you send it there’s no way to make changes.

Demiitasse, we’re applying to 3 of the same places! Colgate, Brown and Vassar for me also :D

Smile, Friends is the best show ever. It never fails to crack me up. Today I watched the episode where Chandler hates Monica’s massages. Lolz.

WAIT, I’m like FREAKING out that you guys have never had PB&J and that it’s not like a HUGE staple/normal facet to your diet. It actually just never occurred to me that that was a uniquely American thing. Whatwhatwhat?!?!? You should bring it England, portugueseninja, rock the knickers right off of those suckers :)

Smile, i think jelly is smoother actually, and jam tends to have chunks of things in it because it’s reduced fruit. AND THEN THERE’S ALSO MARMALADE! What?

Did you know that pectin used to be made out of crushed, female beetle shells? Now it’s like a fruit, gelatin reduction, but how gross is that??!!

Okay, I thought about it, and here are all the different things you can have, and I don’t know what the slight differences are between all of them:

jelly
jam
marmalade
fruit spreads

Oh, portugueseninja, why aren’t you applying to UK schools? Why so keen on coming to America?

I actually did originally apply to UK schools. Then I decided my heart wasn’t in it then so I didn’t go. Applying to US places now because I love America. I waited to go to university until now because I didn’t want to go for the sake of it, and I think I’d get more out of the experience now I’m a bit older and I know what I want from life (or at least, more so than I did when I was 17). So overall I’m doing it for the experience. Doing it for the adventure!

And marmalade is a jam made of orange.

It can be made with things other than oranges :)

Then there’s also preserves…oh boy.

It can, you can also have lemon marmalade, lime… but mostly just citrus I think? Cos otherwise it would just be orange jam? And I’ve never seen that before…

Yeah, once it’s sent it becomes uneditable. And you have to duplicate it if you’re gonna make any changes for normal application time.

I love food. No matter how much I eat, I can never, ever gain or lose weight. It’s sort of perfect, except if my metabolism decides to one day screw me over, I will become an obese man.

PS, Yale > strawberry jam > anything else in the entire world.

Green Day < Yale < chocolate < Stargate < everything else

Sorry Yale, you come tops in everything else though.

I gain weight easily but I also lose it easily. Which is fortunate because I’m really interested in food and nutrition and diets. I love trying out new diets, I don’t know why! I just find it interesting.

Green Day? Really?

PS, Cadbury chocolate is heavenly. I’ll give you that much. We get it in Canada.

PPS, I work out a lot so that might play a role in keeping my weight constant. Idk. I’m extremely clueless about nutrition and diets. I have no idea what a normal amount of calories is, or how many calories are in anything. Silly.

If you exercise a lot then it’ll increase your calorie burning capabilities so yeah you’ll be able to eat anything and not gain weight.

And yeah, I LOVE Green Day. They’re my favourite. Like, ever. I have a lot of favourite bands, but I just love them.

Mmm food. I love it too much.
Well when one does both cardio AND works out, studies show increased weight loss as opposed to when one does cardio alone, so that sounds right!
I try to exercise as much as I can, but in the fall/winter when theater takes over my life and I have no time to get to the gym or play tennis, I actually count on stress and backstage work to curb my apetite, it’s pretty unhealthy.

Lol for some reason when I think of what I want to do at college, making crepes in student kitchens is really high up there on that list!

I pretty much (and will) listen to everything, and I have to say I really enjoy Billie Joe Armstrong’s voice :]

I can listen to almost anything. Lately I’ve been going on a Queen binge. And David Bowie. Love.

I work out around 10 hours a week during the summer, and 6-8 during the schoolyear. Helps me manage stress and be more awake.

Hence the Under Pressure?

Not a Green Day fan, but for the most part I listen to a lot of stuff. Everything from oldies to country to classical to rap to indie rock…I mean really. So it’s just specific bands that I don’t like, not so much entire genres.

Demiitasse, I went out for crepes two days ago with my camp friends! They were fantastic

I ALSO ate fish and chips today and thought of this thread hahahah

I ate fish and chips too, haha. And thought of this thread. We so badass.

Yo, were the crepes fantastic or were your friends fantastic? 'Cause it’s looking pretty confusing at this point.

Also, there’s this other song by Queen called '39 or '49 or something like that, and it’s pretty great but I don’t think it’s popular, so idk.

I like a lot of different stuff too. I just love music so much, and I can’t understand people who don’t. Music is just so perfect for uniting people. That sounds weird and lame but it issss, you can easily get to know so many people with a good knowledge of music.

This thread is hella cool ;]
I’m sure they were both fantastic! Gah, now I have a craving for nutella and crepes.
There are some foods I just wish were good for you. I love fruits and veggies, but oh my goodness, if nutella was actually nutritious…lol!

Queen! Oh man, they are such masters of enunciation! Jealouss. And I wish I could sing something as ridiculous as “I want to ride my bicycle” and make it amazing/awesome/hilarious all at the same time! Really epic. Under Pressure is sweet but then you throw in Ice Ice Baby and the Rice Rice baby…ehhh.

No I get you! I honestly do not know ANYONE who doesn’t at least enjoy music a little.
Lol this is slightly random, but did you know that there are 17 different kinds of smiles, but only 2 kinds reflect genuine happiness?

I’ve never had nutella. What the hell is that?? nutty stuff?

Never had fish and chips.

It’s totally not my fault I live in the South and don’t get to enjoy all these wonderful exotic sounding foods yall are mentioning. Buuuut I did get some kick butt mashed potatoes today? ANNNDDD a peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwich today (and we had JIFF peanut butter…finally! and it made me very veryyy happy). and I thought of yall!

nooo way?? How do they determine that??? Where did you learn this??
That reminds me of this CSI episode where they determined that this little girl’s tears were fake because it’s made out of different…chemicals (??)…liquidy stuff than real tears. ANd it was really cool? gosh, I love CSI.

ANNNNNNNNNNNND GET EXCITED BECAUSE…

COLUMBIA’s APPLICATION IS UPPPP! don’t really remember if any of yall are applying there (yes, itsbeenreal, i know you’re not. hahah) but just saying. Made me SO happy, I literally ran downstairs so fast I tripped. I wonder what I’ll be like when Yale’s supplement is finally up. :)

OMG you’ve NEVER had nutella? It comes in a holy plastic jar in the same aisle as the jams/jellies/marmalade/fruit preserves lol! It’s amazing hazelnut-chocolate spread. Like a spreadable, peanut butter-consistency lindt hazelnut chocolate truffles! YUM.
Oh, and the same company that makes nutella produces Ferrero Rocher hazelnut chocolates, if you’ve ever had those? Please say yes! You’re missing out D:
Oh my goodness Smile!!! I hope we get into Yale and I can treat you to the lusciousness that is nutella folded into fluffy buttery crepes!

Haha I’m really into general psych and a while back I read this book about happiness! Really interesting stuff. I also pretty much devour books about gender studies. And although I probably won’t major in either one, but they’re just really fun topics (haha another slightly irrelevant topic I love is astrology! Lol I’m just really into studying people, personalities, and so on)

OOH. I have to go check it out! I’m not really sure if I’m applying but maybe their app is fun lol! Thanks for letting us know!!! Haha I’d probably be so excited I wouldn’t be able to even type correctly to tell you all if I find out Yale’s supplement is up!

1) I deeply apologize for my dangling participle. I meant the crepes were fantastic, but my friends were too. I went for the savory kind, so no Nutella, sorry guys! I did have Nutella crepes every morning for breakfast while I was in France this summer, though!
2) Demiitasse, oh my god you’re so cool. As I was reading your explanation of Nutella (smile…get with the program girrrl!!) I was specifically thinking “I’ll write a post and say how that’s the same stuff in Ferrero Rocher balls because that usually gets people to understand it,” but then you did!!! And no one ever notices that it’s the same exact product haha, so mad brownie points to you.
3) I agree about the music thing, I usually make my first impressions of people based on what they’re taste in music is. It’s a great way to make friends, seriously, I never see two people get more excited than when they find out they have a favorite band in common.
4) I am getting SO mad at Yale for this common app crap…CRommonAPp…dude, like…it’s time, make the move, take a shot in the dark, put your freaking app up!!!
