<p>thanks…I’d like to think that I have strong ECs to support my test scores. it almost bothers me how ridiculously selective, and to some degree random, college admissions are these days. I was going through the admissions decisions thread from last year and I can’t say I agree with a lot of the acceptances/rejections based on their profiles. Affirmative action=BAD</p>
<p>I think you have to take the stats on here with a pinch of salt, though. The only way to really judge would be to view someone’s complete application. Someone might have great test scores and a load of As on their transcript, but what does that really say about a person? Don’t compare yourself to others because you don’t know what their background is or what they’re really like - that’s what the admissions officers are looking for, they want a sense of who you are. You could be the highest achieving student in your school but if your application makes you sound dull or obnoxious or just another overachieving Harvardmonkey then your acceptance still isn’t guaranteed.</p>
