2014 SCEA hopefuls?

congrats! I’m almost there…a little paranoid to click send though. maybe need to proofread a 100 or so more times ;)

LOL at Stupefy’s comment. I know what you mean - I have some of my ‘short take’ responses, but I’m paranoid even to paste it into the box! LOL.

haha i almost passed out when i was ready to hit the submit button

What kind of things are you guys writing about in your short answers? Are you being honest and blunt? Or working on them a bit like you do with essays? Just natural sounding, cute and funny answers?

I’m being pretty honest but tweaking it a bit because I don’t want to sound like an airhead. hahahah. “Oh you know, I paint my nails five different shades of pink on a free afternoon…and then go shopping”. god no. hahah no way i’m putting that. But I"m still making it sound like ME you know?

soo yeah, I’m making them honest and natural sounding and a few are kinda cute (Something I wish I could be better at or whatever) …a few are serious (like the 2 things I value/admire or something??). Just depends on the question! :)

sora–SAME HERE. i have all my short takes done but I keep like changing one word here and there and i can’t bring myself to put it in the box! Even though there’s like nothing else I can do with them!

GEEEEZ. YALL are DONE?!? Hahah I’m still editing my common app a bit and really tackling that supplemental essay. I JUST WANT THEM TO BE PERRRRFECT. my supplemental essay is gonna need a lot of work apparently. hahahahah. ohhh dear.

but I"M SO EXCITED.

IT’S OCTOBER yall. =]

lovelovelovethenewmembers. so glad yall joined us! :)

^I love people who say y’all :D

yeah I finished my common app over the summer and have been editing it ever since. I just finished my supplement essay (that I’m using for H, Y AND P lol) and I need to edit that. my short answers are done too, but I think I’m going to have to change them…a lot. I plan to submit somewhere between oct 15-20. they say there’s no advantage to submitting early

Smile614’s post made me laugh for some reason! hahah  Thanks for being the only one to welcome us new-additions to the thread, by the way. I was stressing about the short answer questions too, I don’t know what to do with them. The hardest one is probably the last one about the question that we would ask if selecting a Yale class that they haven’t asked us. I’m like whaaaaa? How should I know :S aaaah. I’m so stressed my hair is starting to grey. ugh.

haha, can I just say how much I love the dynamic that is on this thread?? like seriously, Yale applicants seem so much chiller and cooler than everyone else  yayy us!! insert fangirl voice here

Haha but yeahh, I’m wayy too paranoid to hit the submit button yet. I think maybe I’ll end up being the person who submits their app at 11:59:59 Oct 31 ;)

the thing I’m worried about right now even more than typos in my app is yale’s policy of reporting ALL SAT scores. I’ve already taken 2 subject tests and gotten good scores. I’m only taking a third for harvard, but yale says I have to report that too…PRESSURE

i’m going to take my subject tests on saturday and i have never taken any before :s
i guess i’ll report my ACT score as i doubt that my SAT score will be stellar :s

anyway…i’m banning myself from CC (especially because of this thread) cause i really really need to get great scores :s

wish me luck :)

and yup…you can’t escape paranoia :stuck_out_tongue:
my sis is making fun of me all the time as i can’t really think of anything else anymore

Good luck! I’m cutting down my internet usage too.

Do come back as soon as you’re done with the SAT next week though so we can all discuss it :)

Good luck on the SAT, everyone!

Lol, I was just reminded why you need to have somebody look over your essay. My (English teacher) mom looked over my common app one, and besides pointing out some misplaced commas showed me a sentence that came out horribly wrong. My essay was about being an exchange student in Japan, and I was trying to say that I didn’t want to join a club at my school where all the people in the club were girls.

I wrote something like this: “These clubs seemed interesting, but lacked a single male member, making me hesitant to join.”

I wrote the sentence without even thinking about the phrase “male member”. D’oh!

So yeah, most of you probably are with it enough that you wouldn’t accidentally make a gross and inappropriate double entendre like I did, but just a word of caution. I read my essay over several times and made changes, but sometimes you need another set of eyes.

my whole application (recs, transcripts) has been submitted today =O
now it’s up to the Gods
i’m still in disbelief. cuz I JUST FREAKING APPLIED TO YALE UNIVERSITY.

^haha congrats! best of luck to you

hajikami: i don’t think the admissions people would be perceptive (and immature) enough to notice something like that…

^ still, just in case, youknow… can never be too safe… actually, you can, but that kills my point, so pffs. lol.

and @ pigsatsea: OMG YEAAAH. CONGRATS. lol, i betcha i’ll be like frozen for about an hour after i hit submit, and shell-shocked for the rest of the day after i submit… thats AFTER i run aroune like crazy getting my reccs photocopied and sent off… lol.

Hahaha congratulations, pigs!! AAAAHHHH. Getting a bit nervous :D

I’m still just trying to cope with the SATs first though, GAH.

■■■■. SATs on Saturday. It’s too soon! I hope I get a perfect score. A boy, hoping to get into Yale, can dream :)…

^I’m taking SAT lit saturday too. ugh I hate SATs. the first time I took the SAT 1, I did bad on reading and writing but got a 790 in math. second time, I did bad no math and got 800s on the other 2 xD bahaha

sora- you “photocopy” your recs? you know your teachers can just submit them online

hey guys
i thought the feeling of panic would not arrive until at least friday…but well…surprise!
and sora…you’re not the only one photocopying the recs (in fact…mine aren’t even finished…one of my teachers told me AFTER 1 week that she had decided do not write the rec due to a lack of time but i can always approach her in spring)
and i’m scared of going to my counselor :frowning:
I don’t want them to predict my score…predicting an Abitur-score is actually GUESSING the score…not anywhere near prediction :(

good luck to everyone who has to take SATs as well

(I’m so sorry…i just needed to vent)
