App submitted! Clicking the mouse wasn’t as ground-shaking as I thought it would be. I’m a little disappointed.

Should we start a countdown 'til December?

Good luck, everyone!

Should we start a countdown 'til December?

Good luck, everyone!

i have, like, no college essays
major prob

chair2, relax: ditto here =]
its okay, desperation is the mother of creation~ ![]()
and besides, RD deadline is 2.5months away. *gulps.

sora, on the bright side, you have agesssssss to perfect your app.

admissions decisions are released december 15 through your eli account
and I anticipate an influx around oct 15 because thats when they start reviewing SCEA apps. and all the high achieving, strong applicants will submit early

that’s good to know :)

noo. i think that’s wrong they don’t start reviewing until the second week of november that’s why you’re allowed to take the SAT 1 or 2 in november coz they specifically say that yeah you’re allowed to take them in november if you’re applying early because we don’t start reviewing till about the second / third week of november which is when CB sends the SAT scores. i’m pretty sure about this, not 100% sure though.

are you applying SCEA or RD?

No, I’m pretty sure they don’t start reviewing until Nov. 1. An admissions rep told me personally when I asked and he said many of them are doing tours around the country for info sessions before then.

I finally grew a set of balls and sent in my SCEA app to Yale
Likely reject, but hey, you never know. It’s the only Ivy i’m applying to, so why not?
not like its my first choice anyways

read yale’s website before you start to make claims

62 days til 12/15!!!

Any chance they’ll release decisions before that? The fifteenth isn’t an official date or anything…

I’m applying SCEA.
Also, I said I wasn’t a 100% sure when I made my “claim”, so there is really no need to be so catty.

The admissions officer for our area was in town about two weeks ago, and in his presentation he said that they will start reading applications that are complete by mid-October, though he said obviously no dings on anyone for not getting everything in before the November 1 deadline. Even past November 1, and through mid-November, they will be “processing” the mountain of mail and electronic documents that would have arrived, but the admissions office wanted to get ahead of the anticipated increase in volume for SCEA.

I am applying the University of Chicago EA over Yale SCEA primarily for financial reasons. As an applicant to Yale, even with a 4.0/2350+ (Approx. Oct Test), I would likely receive a deferral. Therefore, I am much better off applying early to a school that I am much more likely to get in and fully willing to attend rather than spending an additional $500+ on more application fees in the event of a deferral/rejection. However, if I do indeed receive an acceptance from the U of C, I will only need to submit 3-4 more applications of schools that I would rather attend (including Yale) and save money in the process.

Why will there be an influx of apps on October 15th?

A question–what will your School Forms page say once your teachers have submitted their recommendations? I submitted my app several days ago, and all it says by my teachers’ names is “Started.”

^it should say submitted

I feel really stupid because I sent all of my SAT scores yesterday on Collegeboard andd I paid the $9.50 fee…and because I just took the SATs on October, I clicked on the “UPdate score recipients” link and then added Yale, thinking that they would ONLY send this free score report when it came out…but Collegeboard is apparently going to send all the scores now for free?..so Im sending Yale two sets of scores…I don’t think they’ll care but they might get a little annoyed?

PM me with any questions. I remember going through this exactly a year ago.
