The deadline is about 2 months away. I thought we might as well make the thread as of now since some of you may have started on your apps already.

I really need to apply. I’m so worried though, I’m transfering with a 3.59 GPA but my resume (apparently it’s required now?) will be a joke. No work experience, no extra-curricular activities, nothing.

Your GPA is what matters most. What are you applying to?

College of Natural Science for Computer Science

I heard it’s difficult to get into CNS as a transfer. Some1 on the 2013 Fall transfer thread said you need around a 3.7. I don’t know if this is accurate. What you could do is apply for an easier major and then switch once you get into UT. That’s what I’m planning on doing if I’m worried.

I’ve heard a 3.5 was easy for it, I’m not sure.

Can you confirm if the essays required are A and E with D being optional (for the majors it applies to)?

I don’t even have an idea what I’d write for A… I don’t have special circumstances or anything like that. And is there a length requirement (or a maximum length) to these essays?

I think C is the optional one. Yes A and D are required.

I’m glad D is the required one. It’s the same prompt as the Common App essay from last year at least :)

Less work

How competitive is transferring as a liberal arts major, history in particular? I currently have a 3.92 GPA.

On this page

ApplyTexas;

It says: Spring 2014 A(Required) D(Optional) E(Required)

So that’s wrong?

Sorry I used the wrong letters
A and E are required.

@frank-According to the past transfer threads, you have a really high chance. Especially for a history major. I hope that doesn’t come around offensive

Franko5150 you should be fine. I got into UGS (which is very similar to liberal arts in terms of getting in) with a 3.57. Judging from the other people in the thread I was actually a bit higher than most (most had 3.4s). I wouldn’t really worry about a 3.92 GPA too much for any college really. If you were business or engineering you’d still have a good GPA but you would need to focus on your resume a lot if you didn’t have anything.

Thanks, I just figured I ask. I don’t want to assume anything. By the way no offense taken.

JP do u think a 3.6-3.7ish gpa will be ok for a government major? That’s what I’m aiming for

I would think so. Like I said liberal arts is the easiest college to get into. I think the average in 2011 was like a 3.56 or something. Nothing is certain of course but as long as you have a decent resume and very good essays you should be fine.

Glad to hear that liberal arts are easier to get into. I might wind up a Longhorn.

Yeah it makes me less nervous. I’m just worried they won’t give me a response early enough :(

Honestly you will most likely have to wait a long time if you will have less than 30 hours by the time you apply. Most of us didn’t hear back until mid June and somebody didn’t hear back until just a few weeks ago. It depends on your college though. I think liberal arts is usually quicker if I remember correctly.

Yeah I saw in a Spring 2013 thread this guy got his reply like Jan 2nd.

Does housing on campus work the same way for the spring as it does for the fall?

good question^
