Hi utnurse2b!
I’m also in the same boat as you where I’m almost done with the nursing preqs for UT but I need like 1 if I apply to the nursing school at Texas State…when is the nursing school deadline for texas state? I was going to wait to see if I got into UT in mid November and if I didn’t (which im hoping wont happen!) then I would apply to Texas States nursing program for the next fall…
Thanks for your help!

The Nursing school at UT is super competitive, and I only saw like 3.9 and 4.0 get accepted. sorry y’all.

@sekrim-Yeah, I’m really worried about that. I don’t think they will reject me. However, I’m just worried about getting in and then housing.

Also, does the transfer GPA matter more or the GPA at your current institution?

Has anyone heard back from UT yet? I know that the admissions website says that most students don’t find out until November, but I’m getting anxious.

Korsgaard: your current GPA is more important, but they will put emphasis on your transfer GPA to make sure you are doing strong in your major courses as well.

@Brownie45,

I don’t think anybody has heard back yet. Don’t worry because November is right around the corner.

Hey bdimes,
Thanks for replying!
You have time to apply at Texas state, the transfer admissions takes about 4 weeks to hear back then you can apply at the nursing school. However, don’t forget unlike UT they require the Teas, instead of the Hesi. Just get it all in by January 15th.

Anyway… Yes I totally get wanting UT so bad, it’s all I’ve ever wanted. I’ll be praying for us both!!!

Ok so the low GPA is totally eating me alive, but I do have my CNA and have worked in nursing centers for 8 years and have a ton of volunteer experience… And although my GPA is only a 3.3, I have taken 49 hours in two years, while also working full time and having two babies, and I’m taking 17 hours this semester.

Anyone think any of that matters or just GPA?!

GPA could be a big factor because of how prestigious the college is and the program competitiveness. You’re probably competing with others with equal experience but better GPAs to go with them. The average GPA accepted was 3.8-4.0. I sincerely hope though that your experience will blow them away! I just know it is one of the three hardest programs to be accepted into at UT. I’m sorry I can’t have better news for you, but I want to provide the most honest opinion.

DeeGeeErbear your killing me! Lol kidding. I am sad but that’s what I’m thinking too. I guess I can always do great at texas state and get my masters there! Either way I will make it to UT… Someday.

But until I get that letter, I’m trusting it’s all in Gods hands… Because my GPA is def not up to UT standards.
Thanks for your help!!!

Does anyone know how difficult it is to change majors within the same college? Let’s say from mathematics to physics and vice versa.

If anyone is looking for an apartment in the Spring. I am looking to transfer my lease at 2400 Nueces. It is $900/month and you must qualify for smart housing (if you have need-based financial aid or scholarships).

I didn’t think it was possible but I’m even more impatient now that it’s November and I know they should be releasing their decisions soon. I don’t suppose anybody who isn’t an auto-admit has heard anything? I know it usually isn’t until mid November.

I am applying to cola: islamic studies for spring 2014 from houston lonestar community college

adangerousthing- yeah I agree. I am freaking out as mid November approaches. I can’t wait any longer… argghh

I can’t stop checking mystatus, even on the weekends!

Me too :|

I’m obsessed with checking mystatus. Anytime I have a spare minute I check it. I probably check it at least 5 times a day. It’s a sickness. lol.

I hopeeee most of us start getting decisions this week!

Applicants started to receive decisions around nov. 16th to 18th based on the 12/13 thread. So I guess we still have two more weeks to go.

I thought we get our decisions based on the final transcript of this semester?
