2014 Spring Transfer Thread

How exactly do we accept? By updating emergency contact number and mailing official high school transcript? What about registering for orientation?

Got denied :(

I’m pretty crushed right now, congrats to all who made it!

Good luck!

I just got accepted.

School of Education.

Congratulations to everybody who got accepted!! And good luck to those who are still waiting :)

Stillllllll waiting… :/

Chir490,
Go to your MyStatus page. You will see a list of required actions and a list of recommended actions. We don’t have to place a deposit for Spring transfer like they do in Fall and Summer (not sure why).
Here’s the Transfer After Admission Checklist.
[After-Admission Checklist | Be a Longhorn](http://bealonghorn.utexas.edu/transfer/after-admission/checklist)

As I mentioned before, the two items that took a little time were getting my high school to submit an official transcript and finding a record of my meningitis vaccination.

Also, be sure to check the TSI requirements. You will have to send in your SAT scores if you are not otherwise exempt.

I’m in to COLA gov with a 3.4! Vote for ryan lim in February for university wide representative! It’s gonna be a party

How do we register for orientation?

Here’s the link for transfer orientation on Jan 6.

Been Lurking for the past few weeks but just got accepted CNS - Computer Science! Super excited!

Any advice for things to do for fun at UT?

Thank you! Redwing I’m now registered! Congrats again to ppl that were admitted! We did it!!

To those who did not get accepted: don’t lose hope! I got rejected when I applied in the fall. This semester I was sure I would be denied again since they calculated my GPA at 3.37 even though I had a 3.588 at my current institution. However, I was not! I think what got me in was that I had a positive academic trend in my transcript. I had 2 b+s and everything else was an A for 2012-2013 year, and I was a full time student. Not to mention I earned an A for every math class up to cal II. I also wrote 2 very good essays. So don’t lose hope!

I got accepted at noon today with a 3.39 in COLA!!! All that wait was worth it, goodluck to everyone who is still waitin… I wish the best!! For those of you who got accepted,

HOOK 'EM HORNS

Congrats y’all! Hope to see y’all on campus soon!! \m/ Hook’em!!!

Alright guys, I got denied from Computer Science CNS with a 3.59 but was accepted into UGS. I need some help on this though:

First things first, is there any sort of appeal or reconsider thing I can do? I have Calc 1 and 2 completed with a B and I’m currently in Calc 3 and will probably get an A in it. This will bring my GPA to over 3.6. Should I call them and explain this, is this possible anywhere? It’s a little disheartening that someone with basically the same reqs as me got into CS with a little lower GPA, I know their resume/extra-curric./letters of rec/etc might have been better than mine but still…

Secondly, they want me to submit my high school transcript. I graduated high school over 3 years ago (I thought they didn’t want transcripts that old anyway) but I also already have my Associate of Science. Should I call them about this too?

I don’t know what to do.

kingaion

If you go to UT you’ll lose some money because you’ll probably not be able to get into necessary classes right away. And it’s absolutely impossible to graduate in 2 years. 3 if you are lucky. Did you get accepted anywhere else directly to CS?

If you want to go to UT and nowhere else you need

 1. call your high school and ask how to submit your high school transcript.

I do not believe that appeal will help. I already told here that CS is currently overcrowded / impacted. But you can try to take introductory CS classes while in UGS (CS 312 and CS 311 first semester, CS 314 second semester OR 312 first semester, 311 and 314 second semester). Talk to your academic advisor during orientation.

Ya Ya

I was told I could try to internal-transfer right away after one semester of UGS since I am core-complete and have my Associate of Science degree already. Also I didn’t apply to any other schools. I really wanted UT Austin.

I would just take computer-science related classes at UGS for that first semester. But if I can’t just take 1 semester at UGS and then internal-transfer I probably won’t go at all if I can’t get put into CS either.

The thing that bothers me is why do they care about my high school transcript when I am core-complete and have my Associate of Science degree. It says they’ll use my high school transcript to determine what classes I should be in. And when is orientation? I don’t really want to wait to try to change this. I’ll probably call tomorrow and ask them about how I can try to be reconsidered or if they don’t need my transcript.

Internal college transfers is a huge pain, and you have to write an application essay along with it. It’s worth coming to UT though, just saying!

DeeGeeErbear
What essay? I even clicked on the application itself, did not find any essay or any questions that require a complete sentence.

So would I be able to internal-transfer to CS after just doing a few classes at UGS for one semester?

If it turns into too much of a hassle, I’ll probably just end up going to UT Dallas. It’s past the deadline for that anyway so I wouldn’t apply there until Summer anyway, so I could do a semester at UT Austin and it won’t make a difference.

And I don’t really know what I’m supposed to look for at those links. I’m so lost when it comes to all this.
