2014 Tax Return -- Tight Deadline

I have an issue with a financial aid deadline at a really "prestigious’ university. Not going to say which one but the deadline is February 15th. They want our 2014 tax return but the problem is my father doesn’t have all his 1099 forms yet. I don’t know if there’s any way we could file by the 15th. Any suggestions on how I should handle this situation? Much appreciated!

You file the fafsa and the profile if needed with estimates for 2014. The best estimates you can come up with. You can update fafsa online later. Schools will tell you or have on their finaid website how they want profile updated after taxes are filed.

@annoyingdad‌ Thanks for the response. We already did that, but they want an actual copy of our 2014 tax return.

Contact the school and tell them your dad doesn’t have all his 1099s and see what they say. Your situation isn’t unique.

OK, thank you very much! Will do.

We are dealing with a delay as well. What I’m finding out is that your application for admission will be processed, however the FA package will be processed when all documents are received. It is a very tight deadline! I know. You do run the risk of less money being available after 2/15 deadline. However, if it’s a prestigious university, they may not have an issue with “running out of $”. Our returns won’t be done until mid-March. Call the college and explain the situation. You can only do what you can do.
