Hello Guys!

I am currently a second year at UC Santa Cruz and applied to UC Davis with a 3.54 GPA for their psychology major.
I am pre-med and have completed most of my prerequisites for med school except ochem and one quarter of physics

I will be done with my major prerequisites by the end of the year.

I am married and I have to go home every weekend to work and be with my wife. We tried to get an apartment at UC Santa Cruz and find jobs but it did not work out so good because Santa Cruz is very expensive. I live around 2 hours away from home so it takes a while through rush hour traffic to go home. If I get accepted to UC Davis, I will only be 45 minutes away from my home, wife, and job. I did include this in my application as I was under a lot of stress during the end of my freshman year and that did cause a slight drop for my GPA.

I was a part of Praxis my freshman year as well which is a community service club
Also apart of the Sierra Club

What are my chances? Thank you

I feel your chances are very strong. While I’m sure missing pre-req’s doesn’t help you don’t seem to be missing many and you have a legitimate reason besides just wanting to transfer. I definitely know people with significantly lower GPAs that got in for engineering. I hope you get in.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I will be done with my psychology pre-reqs by the end of the year so Ill be good.

the pre-med pre-reqs are different and are for med school only.

Thanks for the quick reply once again! :)

If anybody has any views or would like to ask about their uc-uc transfer chances, feel free to do so!

Did you mention your situation in your personal statement? However, to the best of my knowledge, besides Berkeley, Irvine, LA, and Merced, the other UCs don’t use personal statement in selection of transfer applicant; they use it to evaluate if you have gaps in your educational history or if you apply for scholarship.

No I mentioned it where it says if you would like them to know anything that is not discussed in the application.

Ahhhh! Please tell me, did you get accepted? I’m currently going through a similar issue as ucsc has very limited housing as so does the area.
