*As part of Posse Foundation, Inc., a diversity initiative that awards full-tuiton scholarships sends small groups of minority students to universities and colleges nationwide that lack in diversity. From the Posse D.C. schools (Pepperdine, Sewanee, Grinnell, UW-Madison, Bucknell, and Lafayette), I chose UW-Madison because “full-tuition scholarship” also meant “you, the out-of-state student, won’t even need to apply for financial aid because 35K at UW-Madison covers every expense save for personal travel and personal expenses, which amounts to less than 3K.” I’ll know if I’ve received the scholarship or not by Halloween.

Bard College

Thanks, guys :)

So I calculated how much it would cost to apply to all of my schools, and it’s a ridiculous amount. Therefore, I’ll probably be cutting down on my list (not sure if I can get fee waivers). Hopefully I’ll get into Yale early so that I don’t have to worry about it.

List Revised:
Northwestern
Cornell
U of I Urbana Champiagn
U Michigan-Ann Arbor
Marquette
:)

imi1928: Happy to see Marquette! One of my kid’s favorites too. Took a “detour” to Milwaukee this summer while in Chicago. My high stat, overachieving kid loved it. Quickly rose towards the top of the list!

Thats good! I wouldnt consider my scores exceptionally stellar, but well above average. Hopin, I get admits to all the school haha (high hopes). Going to visit soon

Yale is a lot more popular on CC than Harvard. :(

Come here, folks. We give out free SOUL FOOD.

Excluding my state school (that app took like two minutes to complete), sixteen total. Kind of ridiculous, I know. The ones near the end are for the lulz.

My counselor’s going to kill me.

^That’s a pretty long list. Do you really want to write all those essays?

Oh, I love writing. It’s not a problem. :] The real issue is that my counselor seems to be under the impression that the paper version of the school report/rec should be used…

Anyway, I like to think I’m only applying to eleven schools. Like I said, the super selective ones are for the lulz. ;)

I might toss out Goucher.

@ksarmand - Wait, for real? I mean, I could apply… soul food is awfully enticing… but is the soul food good???

@Disco - Baltimore sucks anyway. Trust me. There’s nothing there. Really. The harbor doesn’t even have a decent mall and the Cheesecake Factory is always crowded. But Goucher is a decent school. A great safety, IMO.
