Does anyone know the acceptance rate for this year or when it will come out?
The official numbers will be released in January 2016. The preliminary figures suggest that roughly 52,000 applied and 14,000 were admitted. So roughly 27%. But that is just an estimate.
The 52,000 may not include transfer apps? I think those apps may run another 3,000? The 52,000 may be for first time applicants? Either way, Alexandre’s figures sound about right.
For some reason, it has not been reported on Ann Arbor News yet this year. It usually on the newspaper by the third week of May.
blue85, Michigan never includes transfer applicants in its admissions figures.
@alexadre. I’m wondering why you don’t think these figures will be out til January? Last year in news reports on over enrollment in mid September Michigan was discussing admission vs application numbers. The year before in October we attended a UMiCh session where admission figures vs application numbers were discussed for that years incoming class ( I know it was that years class the one starting in 2013 because it was my older daughters class and because I was paying special attention because I was reporting back to her HS for volunteer work I do).
^ Because Alexandre only trust CDS.
“Because Alexandre only trust CDS.”
Damn straight!
UM admissions informed me that the Fall 2015 Entering Class Admitted Student Profile will be released in July!
@carlsandburgsr they just posted that on twitter. Was that tweet in response to you?
Yes, I asked them on Twitter. @maya54
@carlsandburgsr. I loved that they called it a “good question” and answered you personally !
Please do not listen to Alexandre…he is always biased about Umich…
^^^^I would say that a member who joined in 2009 and has made 12 posts in 6 years should be the last person to take advice from.
Now. Should I listen to rikofnovi?
^^^^If you haven’t in the past, why start now?
You say: “Please do not listen to Alexandre…he is always biased about Umich…”
But Alexandre says:"“Because Alexandre only trust CDS.” Damn straight!"
So Alexandre says he is driven by empirical data (CDS)…and you are making a bald/blanket assertion.
I’m going with the guy that uses data.
Umich updated their stats… http://admissions.umich.edu/apply/freshmen-applicants/student-profile
26% acceptance rate!
Quite low. Also indicates a 46% yield but that is prior to “summer melt”.
The 30-34 ACT was where the average Ivy interquartile range was 1 to 2 years ago. Which would seem to indicate that the centrality of the distribution at Michigan is Ivy equivalent…
