2015 Distinguished Scholar Finalists

I have been invited to this years distinguished scholars weekend and I was wondering if anyone had experiences to share from previous years, advice, or if any other finalists would like to introduce themselves and whatnot.

I am interested in the statistics of the number of finalists who receive the major scholarships and the average SAT/ACTs, GPAs and ECs that the recipients have. Thank you!

I’ve also been invited. I’m in-state and had an SAT of 2220 and an ACT of 36. GPA of about 4.5.

@NinjaHunter‌ @BaileyAntoinette‌ my daughter applied too. Just wondering when and how you were notified about you being a finalist. I’m assuming you submitted your video after being notified about Round 2?

@goodmom15‌ there is no real application for the distinguished scholars, I believe your daughter may have applied for a different scholarship. For the DISCHO every honor’s applicant is considered and there is no video or rounds. Only finalists and then a weekend on campus that includes an interview

@BaileyAntoinette‌ my daughter applied, along with many others to the program known at AUs the Frederick Douglass distinguished scholars program (FDDS). There are interviews scheduled for this. So if you didn’t apply how/why did you move to be a finalist?

@BaileyAntoinette‌ perhaps my wording about applying is incorrect, however it is the same scholarship you are being considered for at American university

This thread is for the University of Delaware, not American University.

Ah thanks

I am a Distinguished Scholar at Delaware also. Out-of-State (Illinois). I’d be curious if anyone from previous years had any input as to what happens at the weekend or any tips.

You will meet with faculty and staff, and other Distinguished Scholar finalists. Relax and enjoy the weekend! Be polite, engaged, enthusiastic and friendly. You’ll have a great experience, and come out with an incredible scholarship.

No more buzz about the 2015 Distinguished Scholars weekend?
