*****2015 Launch and Endevvr Summer Programs*****

@hydropane‌

Some sort of habit when you’re doing work? Perhaps you instinctively support teammates, or you are good at teaching/explaining things, etc.

How’s everyone’s apps going?

@dallascowboys1‌

All done for these 2 programs. Are you applying to any other programs?

@woandering Yeah, I am applying to MITES, QuestBridge, and LEDA. I did not apply to Endevrr but I am also looking into SSP and LEAD; however these are not confirmed and I will probably only apply if I have time.

What about you?

@dallascowboys1‌
LBW and some social science and math programs. I hope I can put enough effort into all the applications though.

@woandering All of mine have due dates that are sort of spread out so I can devote a considerable amount of time to each. But it is definitely a concern considering that each programs have different essay questions.

can someone recommend me a few other business programs that you’ve applied to or are applying to? Preferably not geared towards minorities. This would be greatly appreciated!

I was part of this summer’s Launch program. The lectures were pretty long and boring and people kept falling asleep during them. There was a lot of work too. But the people there were lovely. Also don’t worry, I got in without taking any APs and I don’t even remember what I wrote my essays on. I think that the interview sealed the deal for me. Good luck!

Also- about the meal plans. We didn’t have any. We had like 45 minutes to go out and buy stuff by ourselves (aka not enough time). I recommend Toscanini’s for your daily serving of deliciousness.

Are we allowed to send in our recently updated transcript with the last semester if we already applied early?
@mumbai you need to have 15 posts before you can pm
@pumpkintits you had to buy your own food everyday??

Another Launch Alum here. I see everybody talking about transcripts, scores, APs, etc. but from talking to Laurie (Launch director) the impression I got is that those really doesn’t matter if you’ve had a demonstrated passion for entrepreneurship. Not talking about DECA and FBLA and stuff, I mean actually having started your own company. Obviously showing them that you are very intelligent is important too, but book smarts really don’t get you that far in entrepreneurship from my experience. Especially considering how selective it is this year (I believe there were 200-300 apps in the early round alone) your ticket in will probably be what you’ve done outside of the classroom.

If you have any questions please send them my way FYI.

@c0nman‌
Would founding a club count? Or else, what would count? I sincerely doubt everyone started their own company before going to Launch.

Obviously not everybody has started their own company. At Launch session 2 I’d say that about 1/4 to 1/3 of us had, and another 1/3 had something that they were very good at either in design or programming. I didn’t say it was a prerequisite to acceptance, but I’m saying its a way to maximize your chances of getting in. Just make sure somewhere in your application there is something that differentiates you from the other hundreds of people who are applying, whether its a unique talent that will help you contribute to your company, previous experience starting a company, an impressive internship, etc. It doesn’t really matter

Is there an interview for the Launch program? It doesn’t say anything about that on the website. It only says that the application with short answers + video must be submitted and results for EA will come out March 5th. I heard people say that last year there was an interview, but will there be one this year? They could have changed the process, since apparently they got rid of the essay this year too.

Guys, do Launch and Endevvr have interviews this year? What was everyone’s experience with applying last year like, because this year neither website says anything about an interview…

@potatoz‌
Pretty sure Endevvr has interviews. The guy I contacted said (for early application) that if I were picked for a phone interview, I would be contacted in February.

Okay, thanks. Does anyone know if Launch has an interview as well?

Hi, I am Sophomore in one of the leading High school in MD. I have participated several science Competitions at the state level. One of my research project was accepted by the leading US University and approved to continue the research in public Health with grant. I play tennis singles for varsity team. I have state rank in the National Geography Bee. Currently I am working to conduct charity event through tennis. I am also member of Investment club in our school. I want to be a Social entrepreneur. any chances to get in ?

@MDFolks‌ Do you have any activities/accomplishments related to entrepreneurship that would set you apart (like creating a business/product, for example)? Your activities don’t seem to relevant to Launch/Endevvr, so I’m not sure how much of a chance you have of getting into either one.

As a side note, does anyone know what the application fee for Endevvr is? It doesn’t say it anywhere on the website, and it won’t tell you until you submit the application and get directed to PayPal. :neutral_face:
