*****2015 Launch and Endevvr Summer Programs*****

yes you had to buy your own lunch everyday, nothing was provided except for maybe 3 meals in total. @Orangebananapeel‌

@pumpkintits‌
Can you run through this for me?

What food is available for free? Breakfast, lunch, or dinner? How much money should I reserve for the meals that aren’t provided for free?

Nothing is free, except like 4 meals with guest speakers and I think the breakfast of your final presentations.

There is a eating place above the lecture room, which is like 5-10 dollars for something (Student Center). There’s a subway, some japanese place, and a convenience store nearby (La Verde’s). If you want to walk, there are some restaurants nearby. You can buy a “meal plan” which gives you a card for some restaurants nearby, including the ones in the Student Center.
@Woandering

@pumpkintits‌

Thanks for the info! If you went again, would you buy a meal plan or just pay as you go?

EDIT: also was the food in Student Center any good?

@Woandering‌ It doesn’t really matter. You get the money returned anyway if you didn’t spend everything on your card (just takes a while). I guess a meal plan is more convenient, though.

And the food was okay. They offered sandwiches at La Verde’s (and fries and stuff), Japanese “train food” (which was pretty good I think), some indian food, and a Subways.

There was a dumpling place nearby and a crappy Italian place (don’t go to Cinderella’s). I’m sure you’ll find a staple place to get food from. Chipotle was somewhat nearby, with another bunch of chain restaurants maybe a 15 minute walk. People did a lot of group grubhubbing, which was really convenient and I found myself doing that pretty often.

@pumpkintits‌
Sounds really nice - a lot of freedom haha. And what’s “group grubhubbing”?

You don’t have enough time to really get food and enjoy it, so you’ll be limited to the Student Center mostly unless you can get there faster. Grubhub is where you can order food and they’ll deliver it to you. Basically group delivery food.
@woandering

@pumpkintits

Ohh thanks for the life skills haha. What service (fluc?) did you guys use? Or was it like pizza delivery part of the shops?

EDIT: I really should be asking these questions AFTER I get in (if I do), but curiosity.

Double EDIT: nvm I found out grubhub is another fluc.

It’s an app literally called Grubhub… lol.
@woandering

Hey guys did anyone get an interview from launch yet from the early round.

Do they have interviews? It doesn’t say anything on the website. Also, are some people admitted w/ out an interview, or is not getting an interview a sign that you will be rejected? (I’m guessing they don’t take the time to interview every single applicant)
Anyways, I’m going for RD but I think even if there is an interview, they’ll need to spend at least a few weeks to choose who to interview, so you’ll probably have to wait a little longer.

they interview every applicant I asked people from last year’s program. Apparently people start getting interviewed end of january.

Endevvr vs MIT Launch?

Personally, I think Endevvr is better because it’s longer. However, MIT Launch is more prestigious because it is affiliated with MIT. What do you guys think?

@Nerdboy98‌
That’s not possible for regular decision applicants this year.

Wow, they interview every single applicant? I heard there were hundreds of applications in the early round alone…
Anyway, do you know how important the interview is in the application? Is it a deciding factor for acceptance, or a way to confirm that everything on the written application is true, or just something that could potentially help your chances by a little?

@potatoz‌

Pretty sure they only interview the applications they like, and then cut down even more. And if so, the interview is a deciding factor.

@Woandering‌ Yeah, that would seem more practical since I’d expect each interview to take at least 10-20 minutes.
When you say “deciding factor”, do you mean that they will then determine whether you are accepted solely based on your interview performance, or after the interview will they go back and reread your application and consider everything once more?

whoops sorry guys forgot to mention quality applicants but did anyone get an interview yet I’m just concerned whether or not I’m good enough.

@potatoz‌

If they need to, they will probably go back to the app, but I think they invite you for the interview because you are good enough based on the app. This is all conjecture though. Either way, if we don’t get invited to the interview, we probably have no chance. If we do get invited, we need to do our best, no matter the process.

@Nerdboy98‌
Not yet, but which one did you apply for?

I think there is a 2 month wait between the application deadline and the admission notice, so I’d say the interview emails for early round will probably come in early to mid February (if there is an interview). I’m going for the regular round though, so I can’t be completely sure about it. Just my guess.
