[/ul]General Comments:
Bucknell was my safety…awk.

@gnarpow, your stats are somewhat similar to mine…and that happened to me with GW! GW was my safety, and I got waitlisted. It’s really discouraging and kind of awkward…

Accepted! I was just accepted at University of Virginia also! :] I don’t know where I want to go more!

What is the Wait List, and why does Bucknell have one?
With approximately 7,800 students seeking admission for the 940 spaces in the Class of 2015, competition is high and leaves us unable to admit many promising applicants. To a special group of applicants, we offer a place on the Wait List.
The Wait List helps us build a class as close as possible to our enrollment goals. The process works like this: As accepted students make their final decisions about where to enroll, some choose not to come to Bucknell. To account for this factor, we offer admission to more than 940 applicants. In some years, however, the number of accepted students who ultimately choose to enroll here is lower than we have predicted. Places in the class then can be offered to some of those on the Wait List.
How many students are on the Wait List?
Based on our experience in recent years, we expect that approximately 800 students will request to remain on our Wait List. In the past five years, the number of candidates receiving offers of admission from the Wait List has ranged between 10 and 100 students per year; it is usually 40-50. Offers of admission from the Wait List depend on many factors, including enrollment trends in each of the various academic programs.
Is the Wait List ranked?
No. For the most part, space in academic programs determines offers of admission from the Wait List. If space opens up in your area of interest, we may be more likely to extend an offer of admission. If space in your area of interest does not open up, you are unlikely to receive an offer of admission.
What must I do to remain active on the Wait List?
To indicate that you want to remain on Bucknells Wait List, please respond via our web form, www.bucknell.edu/admissions/waitlist no later than April 8, 2011. By May 5, we should know whether we will offer admission to any students on the Wait List.
Is there anything I can do to enhance my chances of being offered admission from the Wait List?
Contacting us by phone, by e-mail or in person will not alter our original decision about your application, nor will it influence how we decide to fill any potential vacancies that arise. If you have questions, you may certainly contact us by phone or e-mail. We will respond as quickly as possible. Please note, however, that we may not be able to
tell you more than we are outlining here.
Should I confirm another schools offer of admission?
Yes. You should take action to ensure that you are enrolled in a college or university for the fall semester. Please remain mindful of the May 1 National Candidates Reply Date.
Will financial aid be available if I am admitted from the Wait List?
Financial aid availability depends greatly on the response from those who were already offered admission and financial aid. If you are offered admission from the Wait List and financial aid funds are available, we will let you know at the time of the offer.
Will I hear from Bucknell if there is no longer a possibility of being admitted from the Wait List?
Yes. No later than early July, after we have confirmed that we have reached full enrollment for our incoming class, we will send a letter to every student who remains on our Wait List
