2015 UCLA Transfer Regents

Have any fall 2015 transfer applicants received an invite for the regents scholarship yet? According to some old posts, invites should start rolling out soon, or have already started.

Still waiting as well :frowning:

I’m still waiting as well…havent heard from anyone about the invitation tho.

Hmm, I’m also wondering why there wasn’t already a discussion regarding this year’s regents. Last year it seemed like a lot more students were interested.

well for me, I’m more worried about getting in than even having a chance at getting regents :stuck_out_tongue: haha…

@Sincere1‌ : I feel like not a lot of people know about Regents. I wouldn’t have known about it if my econ teacher didn’t tell me about it. My friend is also a UCLA regents member. Other than personal connections, it’s really difficult to know about the scholarship. Unless you’re really responsible and visit the school’s financial aid page LOL. :))

@81Mamba‌ : i’ve seen on past threads that some people who received regents invites ended up not getting into the school. That blows my mind. #-o And kind of scares me :frowning:

.

Not concerned since I know I don’t qualify.

I qualified last year and received an email, but it didn’t matter since I was rejected. I don’t think I qualify anymore though lol :-/

^that’s interesting… I thought if you were invited to be a regents, then you should be admitted…

UCLA does not guarantee admission with the invites. If you get to the interview, supposedly, you’re in.

I didn’t really do anything after getting the email because I didn’t think I’d actually get it. I wonder if anything would have turned out differently if I actually went for it. Ah well, it’s in the past I guess.

@zettasyntax‌ did you get the invite as a transfer or when you were a freshman? It seems like interviews don’t happen for transfer applicants (from what I understand. I could be confusing this with another school). If you got the invite as a transfer, would you mind sharing your stats?

@giraffinyoucrazy‌ I was a transfer student. I had a 4.0 with 42 units (excluding some CSU-only units) and I was taking 21 in spring 2014. I was a linguistics with computer science major. I didn’t have igetc finished (needed more foreign language). I’ve read that they “traditionally” go after those with a 4.0 at CC, but I’ve read about others being a bit below that. I now have 77 units with a 3.93, so I don’t know if I’ll be eligible again.

@zettasyntax‌ thank you for sharing your stats!!! I just researched a bit more and it appears that I’m obviously confused. For anyone else who is wondering about how regents works for transfers: UCLA seems to be the only UC that will send an invitation to apply and make you go through a process. The other schools, including Berkeley, just looks at all applicants and will send a decision with no additional work on the student’s part.

@giraffinyoucrazy‌ lindyk8 explained it all in this thread.

I am a little confused as to what’s happening. Over on the UCLA theatre film TV major thread they’re all waiting for interviews, which should have happened by now. Like here, they can find no reference to any interviews anywhere. I am wondering if both regents and TFT majors wait to get word from admissions before they proceed, and admissions is backed up. Just throwing that out as a possibility. I have no idea about the process.

@lindyk8 i’m actually thinking of giving them a call tomorrow and getting information straight from them

Yes! That would be great.

@giraffinyoucrazy‌, that’s interesting because it seems like everyone I know that has applied to UCLA is aware of the regents and the alumni scholarship. I guess it doesn’t really matter if you know about it, as long as you know what to do with the email, if you get one.

@LuckyName‌ Just curious, who are you thinking to call first?
