***2015 Windows on Wiliams (WOW) Discussion***

So acceptance letters just came out, who else got in?? And is this really selective or do they just choose everyone?

Accepted. I’m not sure about its selectivity, but one of the past threads said that 70%+ of the people accepted to WOW are accepted to Williams (but not all attend of course).

Rejected. Pretty surprised actually. I thought I had a pretty decent chance. 1 down, like 8 to go haha. This is why I applied to a lot!! Got the fee waiver though, but I’m not applying because I really wanted to get the LAC experience first. Congrats to everyone who got in, tell us how it goes.

@gebo342 Could you tell us your stats/hooks if you don’t mind?

ACT 35, SAT 2290, 800 SAT Math 2 UW 3.9/4 Hispanic Male, First-Generation. My essay wasn’t that great since I wrote it the night before deadline, but oh well.

I got ACCEPTED and was extremely surprised and happy  I can’t wait to go! I Think it really depended on your essay and how u answered the questions in between. To me I treatyed all of them as if they were that famous “personal statement” on college applications. Who else got in?

Like I an really surprised especially considering my background…

woah I didn’t even know decisions were coming out now, I better finish my essay

just applied!!

Accepted… Attending the September one! Anyone else going then?

@Luckyamazon I’m also attending the September session. See you then!

I’ll finish my essay tomorrow, for the October session.
Hoping I’ll get in.

Anddd Applied. My hopes aren’t too high (white and non first-gen whuddup) but I figure if I apply to all programs similar to WoW at other schools, at least I’ll have been rejected uniformly.

@BlackHuntress - what’s your “background”?

If this helps anyone:

I applied with a 1890 SAT, 29 ACT, 3.97 UWGPA, 4.73 WGPA (but I had like 18 AP/IB courses under my belt). I’m also an African American Female that’s low middle class. Goes to show the “holisticness” of the college.

Right now I have a 2100 SAT and 32 ACT so I’m in a slightly better boat :-bd

Damn, I wish I could get my SAT up 200 points – kudos to you @Princetonian2020.

Does anyone know when emails are coming out for those of us that haven’t gotten news yet? I’m not going to wait by the phone for Williams to call, but, I’d like to know if I’ve been binned.

Oh well. Congrats to those accepted thus far and similar congratulations to those who will be accepted.

It depends when you applied, @DressingIron . If you applied before july 15 deadline you’ll probably get notified by email in early/mid august.

Oh, I did manage to get in before the July 15 deadline; thanks for the information @gebo342.

@CHD2013 I’m pretty sure they said preference goes to those of first generation, low- income status but I don’t think I really qualify as “low income” with 140k as my income  I’m not really first generation as both my parents went to univ. I guess the fact that I stressed my Caribbean background and wrote an extremely excellent essay really helped…I put a lot into the essay at the end and the shorter ones in the middle. That’s the only reason why I’m surprised…But I just found out that I can’t attend anymore :’( my parents don’t really take it seriously and can’t find the time when they would come up with me. so extremely sad Oh well, I hope the spot opens up for one of you guys. Good Luck!

P.S. I Hope this gives some of you out there with some hope! I think what really matters is if you put effort into your essay and really show how motivated you are to go while answering the question.

Has anyone who applied by the July 15th deadline receive any notification yet? I’m so nervous and excited to find out!

Also @ people who were accepted/rejected, were you notified by email or by mail?
