2016/2017 UT Austin Transfer Thread

@DeeGeeErbear

Actually, the lowest my GPA will be is 3.7333. Even though I am not given priority because my 30 hours are “in progress”, do you think that with my internships, rec letters, etc. I could get into Bio from spring 2017. The only thing that worries me is not getting priority like those who have 30 hrs done. Thanks.

Does anybody know if we can apply to be ra’s in the spring?

Hi, right now I am currently at a local community college and I am trying to transfer to UTCS for Fall of 2017. My problem right now is that I am taking Calc 2, Data Structures, Physics (Calc Based) and Biol 2. Although these are not very hard classes, I don’t have much time to put to them because of the communting (about 1 hour one way to Data Structures, and 45 min one way for all other classes). I called the admissions office, and they told me I should drop the Physics class weirdly enough… If I drop soon I will get a ‘W’, but should I keep the class and probably get a B, and run the risk of not getting A’s in my other classes?
Thanks Hopefully, A Longhorn :wink:

If anybody here got accepted or denied to UT through the transfer route, could you post your stats when you applied, so instead of “chancing” people we could compare our application against someone who got in or got denied. Thanks dudes !

If you’re sure it’ll effect your chances of making A’s in other classes, you’re better off dropping.

Here were my entrance stats before I was accepted:

• Major applied to: Public Relations, Moody College of Communication
• Previous school: Texas State University San Marcos
• Fall 2013
• GPA: 3.84/4.0
• Letters of rec: 3 (Blinn college prof, UT alum business professional & UT alum city mayor.)
• Essays: wrote about my love for UT and ambitions to innovate in the digital communications world & also on how technology defaces us from reality.
• activities: 200+ volunteer hours, college sorority, PRSSA, FFA

do you guys know when (approx) they are going to post decisions for the spring of 2017?

it probably varies per person. I have my 30 hours “in progress” so I don’t get my decision until late December/early January. If you have more than 30 hours done, then I’m not sure. I hope soon for your sake. Don’t worry, you’ll get in!

@ssman512 RA Requirements: complete 24 hours prior to employment, GPA 2.5 or above, regularly enrolled student, no other employment, no more than 16 hours during long or 12 hours during summer session, work well with individuals and groups.

Does anyone know what a competitive GPA for external transfer to biology in CNS would be? Especially for spring transfer for someone with 30 hours in progress currently. Thanks.

3.7+

Have Cal 1 done too

Is COLA undecided easier to get into than CNS for bio/bio chem? What’s the easiest major to external transfer into?

@wickedwarrior777 possibly, but the admissions officers may see through your intentions if you apply for COLA just to get in the school. Also, you’re taking away a spot from a student who truly wants to study a major in the Liberal Arts.

In short: Just apply what you’re applying for.

Had a question maybe someone on here knows, how do you select undeclared as a transfer applicant? I don’t see it as an option where you select your first and second choice major.

@HookemOrNah You can’t.

applying for COLA Int. Relations, COLA undeclared second choice.
Stats:
Current GPA: 4.0, 36 hours. 15 in progress
4 LOR
2 leadership positions, handful of extracurriculars, 100+ community service
2 well written, personal essays

chance me?

I’m planning on transferring to UT fall 2017. Specifically to the Moody College of Communication in Speech-Language Pathology. I’m transferring from Lone Star Community College and I have a 3.5 gpa. Do you think I have a good change of getting accepted?

Man, it seems like everybody has a 4.0 nowadays, jeez, you over achievers you :slight_smile:

I’m planning to transfer to COLA B.S Psychology in the fall, how important is it that I have Cal 1 when I transfer?
