2016/2017 UT Austin Transfer Thread

As a long time lurker of this thread, I thought I should share the good news that I was accepted Tuesday evening to the College of Natural Sciences for Environmental Science with a 3.37 GPA.

What were your other stats? @erj175

@erj175 wow!!! congrats!!! I’m surprised by that, I myself have a lower than average GPA so I am hoping for the best.

@Vagabond_Girl

What is your GPA, and what major are you applying for?

Probably 100ish transfer hours; 79 from my four semesters at university and the rest from AP/IB.

Various environmental extracurriculars as well as student government and a research position. The professor wrote me a rec letter.

2 internships: a computer science start-up(my old major) and the Sierra Club

Anything else?

I applied to RTF and still waiting on a decision. My GPA is a 3.45 so I’m betting on not being accepted. The only edge I have is that I’ve worked for a video production company the past 3 years and have lots of experience. My essays were also very well written. I applied to UNT as a backup, and that’s most likely where I’ll end up in the fall.

Does anyone know when next wave of decisions will be released? At this point I just want to get into my secondary major since primary is cs and its so hard

@COLLEGEZZ oh I haven’t heard back from UT. not yet. but when I applied they asked for my unofficial transcript. I’m going at lone star college too. so they have this option of choosing who will be your receiver of that transcript. what I did was just putting the name of the university so that LSC would send it directly to them.

@erj175 congrats! one question, please. Did you receive the email first or you just found out at UT EID?

@JeyLee MyStatus updates the fastest, then email comes several hours later

I remember being in this thread last year, good luck to all of you.

Thanks @JackM82

Does anyone know when more decisions will come out?
I’m applying as a Social Work major from the University of Arkansas. I have 78 credits from Arkansas, a 3.6 overall GPA but a 4.0 in all of my social work classes. I’ve also made a 4.0 for my last 3 semesters. I have work experience and volunteer hours with the Foster Care system and as a mentor to elementary age children. My essays were about my passion for mental health advocacy and stigma attached to mental illness.

I’m freaking out because I have not heard back and I don’t know if my GPA is high enough. Thoughts?

Hey does anyone know if I can easily transfer into Chemistry with a 3.732 GPA?

@erj175 Hey so you got it last Tuesday? Does that mean they release decisions day by day, kinda like whenever? Rather than complete waves at a time?

Anyone mind chancing me?

@cs1826 Don’t freak out about not getting a decision back yet! Almost everyone (including myself) is waiting on a decision right now regardless of the fact if you have a 4.0 or 30 hours completed. The only report that someone going into social work left form last year is that they got in with a straight 3.7 so don’t worry! Just hang on tight.

@JeyLee I wasn’t even thinking of checking because it was during the week and decisions seemed to be coming out on Friday evenings, but at like 7PM I got an email to check MyStatus.

@Ineedtoknow88 Yeah it was rather random, middle of the week and kind of late in the evening.

@erj175 haha but it usually updates on mystatus first so you probably even got your decision earlier! But do you think it is reasonable for me to transfer in as a Chemistry major with a 3.732 GPA?

I think it really will depend on your extracurriculars and on the quality of your essays. Your GPA seems good enough for CNS, but extra bonuses to your application should seal the deal
