@britni12 what was your GPA and hour many hours did you applied with?
@bagel64 everyone with 30+ hours should receive one mid-may! I think most people who recieved a decision June 15 had less than 30 hours when applying.
@bagel64 I’m an RTF major with 45 hours when applying as well. It’s getting so tiring waiting. I feel your pain for sure!!!
@scientist89 so what if you have the stats for admission? it doesn’t prove that admission is based on race/ethnicity/ religion! stop feeding yourself with excuses, most of those admitted are white which is the majority of the applicants anyway!!! you need to stop complaining
@bagel64 I went to UT myself but I’m applying to cockrell, idk what school you are applying to. Anyway, they told me that if I didn’t hear a decision by now then I will have to wait until June 15th. idk maybe that’s just for cockrell. I was told that cockrell is mostly sending rejections.
oh also I have 30+ hrs.
@DivBookstore Yeah, I’m applying to Moody.
And if what you said is true about Moody as well, then that’s really lame! Thanks, though.
I’ll give admissions another call tomorrow.
Let us know what admissions says about Moody @bagel63 I’m also waiting to hear about RTF
@bagel63 yeah let us know. I applied to RTF as well. I emailed admissions last Friday and they said decisions were coming out “very soon” but it’s been a week now and nothing… so frustrating.
Does the appearance of the “Apartments” button on the housing portal mean anything? Before, it wasn’t there.
Well, I ended up dropping Cal II in the spring so I’m officially not prereq ready for McCombs. Planning on taking Cal II in the summer and submitting an appeal since I would be prereq complete come fall. Has anyone heard of someone else doing this? I figure its a fairly common predicament.
I guess I still have Moody to fall back on but I really don’t want to wait a whole year to be able to internally transfer.
Stats: 80 hours/GPA 3.8/2 Essays/2 LORs/Extensive work experience(specifically accounting)/Veteran
@DivBookstore I am already a student at UT, and it is clear that the top 7% and students admitted by affirmative action take up most seats. The admission is not based on a merit system. Fisher & UT case is a typical example.
Even though some of you have higher test scores, great essays, a lot of extracurricular activities, you may be rejected while others with lower test scores, bad essays, and no extracurricular activities get in.
I agree with you @scientist89, but that doesn’t mean that the others who have lower stats don’t deserve to be admitted. The UT admission process does consider the racial backgrounds and family college chances of the applicants. It’s actually a good thing because Texas is, and especially Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio are, diverse and they have to meet that. It’s a complicated process that depends on the pool of a certain year. The only thing the UT fails on is keeping up with their deadlines.
Got some disappointing information when I called in today.
I couldn’t tell if it was the same woman I talked to two weeks ago, but when I asked if I’d hear from admissions before June, all I got was a “uh… yeah… a lot of applicants won’t hear until mid-June, actually… …but since you have more than enough credit hours required, you might hear back very much sooner than later, but yeah, I can’t really guarentee anything for sure…”
So, uh, so much for “mid-May”. But, hey, you never know! (oh god just end it already…)
If you’re (understandably) unsatisfied with that answer, I’d highly suggest you all call in on Monday and report back here with what info you’re given. While we might not get the most solid answer to when we’ll hear back, I think it’ll be slightly more comforting for everyone if we all have a large stable pool of information from different sources to rely on.
Hello all! My community college sent in my final transcript electronically and I was wondering about how long it usually takes for it too appear on my application page that it has been received… does anyone know from experience?
Mine took about 2 days to show up
Oh man, if I remember correctly it was technically a 3.3ish…? When I went back to college in Spring 2014, over those 2 years I had a 4.0… my previous younger years GPA was WAY lower than that, tanking my overall GPA. I don’t think UT paid much attention to the bad grades as my good grades were most recent. I also wrote about the importance of me failing college and how it helped me in one of my essays. When I was accepted I think UT accepted 34ish of my credits. The only classes that didn’t transfer were my beginning maths. I will attend this Fall, and then reapply to Bio in the spring. I can’t apply to internally transfer until I have completed 24 credits at UT. Boo
@JeyLee
If anyone has any questions, fire away. I’ve been in your shoes
@britni12 Yeah, I also wrote about failing and how I changed my major in my essays. My gpa isn’t good but hopefully there’s a miracle (I also have 2 backup schools)
@Mudflaps What did apply to 1st and 2nd choice? What’s your GPA and other essay about (no need for details, just general idea)? In state or out of state and age?
@britni12 1st Choice: Journalism, 2nd choice is English. My gpa is booboo because of 2 F’s I had in the past but I did do good this semester. My gpa is below a 3.0 so I’ll most likely be denied.
