Does anyone know of another forum for transfer students? Trying to expand my info resources and calm my nerves… :!! :-S

Denied enrollment to RTF.
50+ hours, 1 LOR (from an old screenwriting professor who currently writes for the film industry), decent essays (just the mandatory ones), 3.89 GPA over my 3 semesters (Dean’s List twice, President’s List once) at on OOS school (3.69 for the past semester).
I also had 80+ hours volunteering as an unpaid intern for a film festival, and was accepted into a film studies program out of 1 in 30 students nationwide.
I have appealed but don’t expect anything, in my appeal I talked about my history as a homeschooled student, to this past semester and my accomplishments (receiving a promotion at work after only 2 months, receiving acceptance into the film studies program, and receiving 3 A’s and a B this past semester, all while dealing with a newly diagnosed chronic illness). I also mentioned that my school doesn’t give out (+) or (-) grades, so my 87% in bio was the same as if I got an 80% in the class, which lowers my GPA.
We’ll see what happens, I doubt anything will, but maybe I’ll get some clarity as to what I can do better next year.

Ahh @madeleine2020 that’s too bad. I’m assuming you got rejected because OOS seeing as your GPA is quite high. I’m sorry to hear that and hope your appeal succeeds. I’m still waiting to hear back, I’ve never been so nervous!

Question guys, do they check applications and admit people over the weekend as well? Or do these next two weekends I don’t even have to worry about checking MyStatus? I assume they don’t admit on the weekend because I don’t think anyone would be there but ya never know!

@krisstory99 I’m now in state, and another kid I went to school with OOS was admitted with the same grades, but I had more volunteer work, so I don’t know why I was rejected. Oh well.

Okay question…I’m a Texas resident (I actually live in Austin) but I did my first few years at the University of Arkansas. Does that decrease my likelihood of acceptance? I applied to COLA as a social work major

I doubt it means anything but as a bio applicant my url changed from 02 at the end to 03.

Can i use the Interactive Degree Audit to calculate my gpa?

Do decisions come out every weekday? Do you think some of us will get our acceptances/rejections today?

@madeleine2020 I really think they made a mistake rejecting you. I can’t believe that with how good your resume is and your high GPA. Wishing the best for you and hope the appeal works!!

@krisstory99

Submitted 3/1

In review 5/22
Accepted 6/2 at 2:30pm (that’s some interesting time tbh)

and I did not receive a decision yet from cockrell!!!

Same here, no decision from McComb’s.

Wow @liaojh you were accepted so quickly… my final transcript was received 5/25, then the next day it said In Review, so 5/26. Only took you 11 days! If that’s how it goes for me… then 4 days left for me :s

Of course that’s not how it works though I don’t think lol. Guess we’ll see! Congratulations on getting in and thanks for the stats.

Does my Community College GPA transfer over or does UT redo the GPA according to their A+ A- scale?
My CC only does letter grades and no + or - even on transcripts

@krisstory99 Thank you and good luck on your admission! It’s arriving soon :smiley:

@colboycsat In my experience, UT does not redo the GPA. If your course was given an A, it’s an A on the transcript, and 4.0 on the GPA.

@DivBookstore
Hey man, what’s your stats if you don’t mind me asking? I’m going crazy here too.

@colboycsat @liaojh is right, your GPA will be whatever it was from the college for your transfer GPA. BUT, if you are accepted and start your next year at UT, your GPA will start over. If you get a 3.0 in your next semester, then it will not average out with the 4.0 from your old school, but it will stay at 3.0.

I recently applied as a transfer student to the University of Texas at Austin, and I unfortunately received news I was not accepted. I decided to call to see what the reasoning was and the man of admissions told me I did not have calculus in order to be considered for Cockrell College. I knew I wasn’t going to get accepted into Cockrell College because I didn’t have calculus II finished so I thought I changed my choice of college to Liberal Arts however it did not go through the system. Is this a valid reason for an appeal? I’m just overwhelmed and don’t know what to do!
