@ssman512 My appeal was denied. I just found out now. Time to begin on new essays for the summer term!
@irltots, I’m sorry to hear that. Hopefully you’ll get in for the summer term! God bless.
Anyone know what a good GPA is for COLA? If anyone here has gotten into COLA or knows someone who has, please state your major and GPA as well as any other credentials you may have. Thanks
Chances please?
Applied for Fall 2017 admission. I have only been in college at Texas State University for one semester, but took so many AP classes in high school that I am at 37 credits (53 after spring 2017 semester).
I am applying for COLA with a degree in Government.
I have three LOR, one from an AP History teacher with a graduate degree from Duke, one from a Texas State Honors professor with a doctorate from UT, one from a professor with a doctorate in political science. I want to be pre law.
My father went to UT for law, and has alumni status.
My GPA is 3.77 (3.75 transfer GPA)
I have lots of high school extracurriculars (junior board member for UIL congressional debate, a German foreign exchange, German historian, theatre, national thespian society, AP Scholar with Honor, etc.)
I also have college extracurriculars (Texas state democrats, gymnastics club, AMA, Texas State Honors College)
I wrote three essays (2 required, 1 optional), and one of the three is about a horribly painful and difficult event in my life.
@nerdygirl2100 We’ve been told that having family that are alumnae at UT does not matter in the application review process. We’ve also been told that it is not who did your LOR’s but how well they know you, and how well they can speak to your qualifications as a student. Your GPA is good. Sometimes transferring in with a high number of credits puts you into a position where you start as say a junior and don’t have time to complete the required coursework in the major in the last two years. I wish you lots of luck!
I WAS JUST ADMITRED FOR SPRING OFF AN APPEAL
Hello all! I am applying for the Fall 2017 semester for International Relations and Global Studies. I just figured Id say hello since we are all in the same boat! Good luck!!
Congrats, see you next Tuesday
Hi, I plan to transfer to UT Austin Fall of 2017. I’m currently doing my application and I’d like to here what y’all think my chances are. Here is some info:
Applying to College of Liberal Arts to major in government.
GPA- 4.0
Credits- 15 (30 at the end of this semester)
Classes completed: History I, Composition I, Macroeconomics, Public Speaking, and College Algebra
Classes taking: History II, Federal Government, Art Appreciation, Contemporary Mathematics, General Psychology
My essays are unique for sure, something that they will not expect. I think that they are decent but everyone will say that.
EC’s are kinda lacking, especially since college and that makes me nervous. But in the past during high school:
Elected to BUCs, an elite group of young men at my high school.
Football team up until 11th grade
I have volunteered a TON. My job experience is lacking honestly as well.
I also have two letters of recommendation; one from my English professor and one from my former principal at my early graduation high school (I graduated a year early).
Man how come right when I comment, people don’t wanna comment for 3 days straight -_-
@scientist89, do you have any tips you can share with me from orientation? I was accepted after orientation.
@krisstory99 you’re a lock. Any 4.0 applying to COLA will be 99% in, unless your essays are awful.
I have a 3.78. Do you think that’s good enough to transfer into COLA Psych?
@ssman512 you really think my chances are that good? Well, my essays are pretty unique, as one is about how I use stress to my advantage, and another about a story a teacher told me and how its changed my view on life. I think they’re pretty decent, not the best ever I’m sure but they’re good.
You really think a 4.0 is like a shoe-in for COLA?
waits 5 days for someone to reply
I auditioned for the dance department in November and I should be getting my results any day now. Never been so anxious in my life!
