Still waiting. Applied 11/16. Anyone know when admissions closes for the holidays?

@Undercovermom1 From Christmas to the Monday after New Years

I was accepted yesterday around 4pm to the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences (Neuroscience major)
Submitted the app November 1 but they received my SAT scores November 16
SAT scores: 620cr/610m/610w (1840)
4.0 weighted gpa/3.7 uw gpa

I completed my application on November 8th and received my decision on December 11th. I did not complete a SRAR and instead sent in an official transcript.

Accepted - Swanson School of Engineering
ACT: 34 C, 35 E, 32 M, 36 R, 34 S, 23 Wr
4.0 Unweighted

Hoping to hear something soon! My daughter’s application was submitted 11/7 for Swanson School of Engineering. It sure would be nice if she got her decision before Christmas.

I was just accepted by Pitt on December 8th. Still waiting for scholarships and honors school admission. When should I expect it? Also, I didn’t answer the short answers. Would that be detrimental to my chances of getting a scholarship or getting into the honors school?

GPA (% scale): 95.58 unweighted
Rank in class: 7 out of 228
Test Scores: 2270 SAT (1690 M+CR), 760 Math II, 700 Chemistry (don’t even talk to me about that score…daddy is a chemistry professor >.<)
Demographics: Asian female

CMU is my top choice, though.

I received the email on 11/9 to confirm that everything was received. I have a 3.8 GPA on a 4.0 scale, my superscore is a 1770 on the SATs, and I’m ranked 5 in a class of 450. I participate in almost every music ensemble my school has to offer, and I have a part time job. By the time I graduate I will have completed 7 AP courses, and 2 dual enrollment courses. I intend to go into pre-med! I’m extremely anxious to hear from Pitt because it is one of my top choices. I fell in love with everything about it! Good luck to all and congratulations to all accepted!

I sent in the short answer questions to Pitt around Nov 14th and I applied to the business school. I am in the top 30th percentile in my school, 3.7 weighted gpa, 26 ACT, advanced math classes and numerous extracurriculars. I am wondering when I should expect to hear back.

My mother called the admissions office a few weeks ago to confirm that they received my SAT scores, and the woman told my mom that you usually get notified 3-5 weeks after you send in your application. I know-the anxiety is killing me too!

Hi @pianoir . The Honors College is not membership-based, so UPitt does not offer admission into it. Instead, you should receive your acceptance letter in the mail stating whether or not you are AUTOMATICALLY eligible to take Honors courses. Looking at your stats, you have most of the criteria to become automatically eligible. If you’re not, you can always talk to your counselor at UPitt and request to be placed in Honors classes.

The specific criteria for Honors College is on Pitt’s website, and it does not include answering the short answer questions. The questions are viewed by the scholarship committee though - answering them explains your talents, personal situations, etc, which helps the committee make a decision. The questions were not necessary, but it would’ve definitely been a plus to do.

@MandomeLife If I remember correctly, my acceptance letter said I should be notified about Honors College later. However, that was a week ago and from what I’ve read of some of these comments, people received notification about Honors College shortly after admission to UPitt. I’m kind of worried…I thought I had the stats :frowning:

@rudyy1 it’s taking longer now for Pitt to send out decisions. I think an average of 6 weeks, plus you have to account for the holiday break. My daughter’s app has been marked complete since October 27, so over 7 weeks now and we’re still waiting. She called Admissions a few days ago, and they told her that she’d probably hear something in 2 weeks, but I seriously doubt it since that would put it right during Christmas week. So more likely in the new year.

My daughter got her acceptance letter yesterday to the Swanson School of Engineering (Chemical Engineering). Her application was in and marked complete as of Friday, Nov 20.

I applied to University of Pittsburgh at the end of October and they emailed me November 10th saying they were missing SAT scores. I went onto Collegeboard and of course Pitt was the only school they didn’t send to. The person who emailed me told me to send a screenshot of my scores with my name on it so I did and that was that. I’ve signed on the “check application status” site and all it says is, “this application is complete.” What does this mean? When will I find out my decision?
