We survived! I am now a mother-in-law. Church was beautiful, reception was beautiful, weather was beautiful, food was good. Some airline issues with delays on both ends of the weekend. We are exhausted but happy.
Congrats mamabear!!! Would love to hear a bit more - glad the weather was nice - hoping for the same for our event this Saturday!
Hopefully it’s a GOOD exhausted!
Not really too much to say - ceremony was in an old church, reception was in a historic home with beautiful grounds. The exhaustion comes from having to stay until the very end of the reception to transport the leftover alcohol, any gifts, leftover cake, the centerpieces, bathroom amenities, etc, back to the hotel. The young people all took a shuttle back to the hotel, then promptly went out to a bar. 2:30 AM my 21 year old D is throwing up in her room and I end up staying with her. Fun times! I told her we have all had that experience. She has had a bad time getting home to the west coast, major delays and will be up very late again tonight. The wedding itself was great - everyone had a good time and we received many compliments (my D really did all the planning herself).
The centerpieces were so cute - I bought birdcages and the florist filled them with various arrangements, all different. I do regret not having brought more cash to tip the servers - they did such a great job I wish I would have given them more than what we originally planned.
And now the Penguins have won the Stanley Cup and I’m off to sleep!
Many congrats!!!
YIPPEE! ; Sounds like it was a fabulous event! Rest up!
We have some good news in the form of a healthy, but tiny baby for D’s bridesmaid who had the C-section delivery moved up to 3 days before the wedding. The friend ended up having a little girl, slightly under 5 lbs., last Thursday and everything is good for both of them. Hooray! In fact, the friend’s mom, who had just moved to Nashville and who had forgotten to RSVP (the situation excuses this late response, IMO), called D over the weekend and said she and D’s friend will likely try to come to the church for the ceremony and leave the baby with her dad. We’ll see if that works out, but it will be just over two weeks after the C-section.
Glad the tiny baby is healthy!
I love these happy wedding threads. Maybe one day one of mine will get married.
@mamabear1234 great update about wedding
Am sure there is a way you can get additional money to servers if you’d like- I know it would be appreciated
Also, Yelp and social media reviews are another way to show your love to those who made it memorable.
@abasket , If he is staying at Iberostars, HyattZiva/Zilara, sandals Mobay or any of the two Secrets resorts, a long pants khaki/Linen or Denim is fine along with a collared shirt. No tie is needed. After dinner, he goes back to the room and change and back to his casual self listening to some reggae music and having some Bob Marley cocktail
I believe at the RIU, dress shorts is fine.
Hi all, is there a 2017 wedding thread or will this one just morph into that do you think? D is getting married next May 2017 and I’d love to chat w people planning as well. She lives nearby and we will be paying for most of the expenses. Thanks!!
@CAMidwestMom - I’m with you. My youngest d is getting married next June. We have a venue and a dress so far!
@CAMidwestMom – D is getting married August, 2017. They have church, venue, hotels and photographer so far.
So many things to do! This thread has provided a lot of things to think about that I probably would not have even thought about…but Goskid seems to be way ahead of me–thank God!
Another 2017 MOB here - mid-July. They don’t have many details left to arrange, the officiant being the most important of those. However, the shoes arrived today, so that’s all set.
MOB April 2017! Venue selected, dress is bought. She will have a wedding planner so that is a load of pressure off!
Threads are free! Continue on this one or start a new one - your choice!
I started this thread and our wedding is this weekend- I hope to not be planning another wedding too soon!
Woo Hoo, abasket! Come back next week and tell us all about it!
Congrats everyone!! Glad all weddings have and are going well. Boo for airline issues but glad all else was great.
And time does fly, you 2017’ers. Be ready. Hard to believe my DS and his W just elaborated their first anniversary!!!
Hard to believe rising junior daughter’s friend from high school just got engaged. Too soon for me to think that far ahead.
AARRGGHH- celebrated, not elaborated!!
