Like many of you, my daughter is waiting to find out if she's been accepted to UCLA. In another thread here, folks were discussing creating a UCLA logon id and password at https://logon.ucla.edu/ thinking that the account would be needed to see the results when they are released later today.

I created an account for her by checking the "New UCLA Student(Including admitted applicants)" box even though we had not been assigned the 9 digit student id # yet. I used the 7 digit application number as the instuctions suggest. I was under the impression the 9 digit id number would be given with an acceptance letter when they come out today as this is what it says on UCLA's website. At any rate, I was allowed to create the account using the application number.

So, while clicking around the sight for fun, I clicked on that part of the web page that says "Manage UCLA Logon ID". When I did, I noticed that my daughter had been assigned her 9 digit UCLA ID Number. I called the school and the person I asked about this said "Congratulations, that means she's in because UCLA doesn't assign numbers to anyone but students". I said are you sure? The person said "yes, I'm pretty sure".

Has anyone else gotten a 9 digit id yet when creating your login account?

The person I spoke to said that until she SIRs and chooses to attend UCLA, this is what it will say. The person was very certain that this number would not be given out unless she is considered a student by UCLA. I asked the person to look up the number to see if it’s in their system. It is in their system with my daughter’s name listed as an inactive student.

I also went to URSA and noticed all of my daughter’s personal info (i.e., name, email address, home address and phone number) are listed there as well.

rwscpa,
I followed your steps, also got a UCLA ID Number for my D, except her number starts w 21, it’s a 9-digit. Don’t know what it means, but my hope is up. What is URSA?

I also called the registrars office and the person I spoke to seemed upset that I had this number. The person said, “how did you get that?” I told her I created a login account and it was there. I asked does this mean that my daughter is in? She said, “You’re not suppose to do it like that. You’ll have to wait until tonight to find out.”

As for the URSA, everyone who created URSA account is able to access his/her personal info too. So, it doesn’t really tell much about admission.

I don’t think the ID would mean anything… wouldn’t you think that they’d know about this loophole by now and prevent people from knowing whether they’re accepted or not ahead of time?

Yea, I tried to access the Bruincard account which gives this error:

Request Details
Reference Number : 634680905********
Error Message : Sorry, we are not able to authenticate your logon. Please send an email to bruincard@finance.ucla.edu, call 310-825-2336, or visit a BruinCard Center with the following information so we can help solve the problem:
UCLA logon
UCLA temporary ID (affiliate number)
First Name (as appear on the BruinCard)
Last Name (as appear on the BruinCard)
Email

So the UCLA ID we see’s just a temp affiliate number. Oh well, worth a shot.

Although my d applied to UCLA, her stats are not good enough to get in. I just followed the given directions and she was assigned an 9 digit id number too. I think it works for everyone … unfortunately.
