2016 Elks MVS Scholarship

Congrats @ihave2020vision

Congratulations @ihave2020vision !!!

The list is online at the Elkā€™s website. Search for winners by year 2016.

National Finalist!
Thanks @Dragonflygarden for the update!!!

No email yet but name is on the list:)
@ihave2020vision did the email specifically say you won the $4000 or that you advanced to nationals?

Congrats! Yep it said both

Hm I cannot find the list, and the search only goes up to 2015
Would appreciate if anybody could provide directions to the list!

Yeah it was hard to find
I had to google elks on my laptop and the first listing their is a tab for scholarship winners and a drop down box to search by year and state.

Ah, is this the ENF Scholarship recipient one?

yay! iā€™m on the list

is this a list of everyone who won the 4k? I didnā€™t get an email yet

Itā€™s a list for all the national finalists. I havenā€™t received an email yet either. The last email said 20 will be invited to leadership weekend. The others I assume will be told in the email they won the $4000.
Congrats @magic125 !!!

Congrats all.

All the National Finalists receive $4k at a minimum. 20/500 will eventually be invited to the weekend and will be awarded more (in place of the 4k, not in addition to it).

As mentioned before, historically the top 20 are extraordinarily low income. I would treat this as the end of the road mentally (apply for the weekend, but donā€™t expect it ā€“ the selection criteria is very specific).

Congrats!

Iā€™m not on the list, but since i had zero financial need and that was a large factor, Iā€™m pretty proud i made it this far!!

@Fuzerabit did you get an email yet? I still havenā€™t gotten one

@magic125
No I havenā€™t as of yet. Maybe they will send over a couple of days.

We were notified by snail mail, our student did not advance.

@CourtneyThurston I noticed that many of those who attended last yearā€™s Leadership Weekend went went on to schools with 100% need-met financial aid policies, such as Harvard and Stanford. I would assume that those students were notified of their acceptance to said universities after their selection for the weekend, as attending those schools effectively eliminates any financial need. Do you think that being accepted EA or ED to a school with 100% need-met FA ruins your viability for selection for the Leadership Weekend?

@CourtneyThurston What do you consider extraordinarily low income? Is $55k for family of 6 low enough income?

@scholcol Likely. You have to report scholarships and financial aid received, so if youā€™re bound to a very generous college alreadyā€¦ yep.

@Archlion Maybe. Previous homelessness seems to be a somewhat common theme among the top 20. So it goes beyond just having an EFC of 0.
