My child came to Gambier to audition for the Music Scholarship in February. He has not heard about it but did (a) get admitted and (b) get the financial aid letter that made no mention of it.
Is it safe to say he was not chosen ?
There also was any merit aid listed, only need aid (which was on par with other LACs).
Actually… No… They never did send anything specially about the music scholarship. I called to ask and they said that if he had been chosen, it would have been reflected on the financial package. He did get “free” music lessons as the consolation prize. I was dubious that they would not have just taken more merit aid away and replaced it with this music scholarship so in the end, it may not have made a financial difference. Had we not been eligible for merit aid, and he was chosen, that would have been a real benefit.
He chose Hamilton College in the end and is extremely happy with his choice (gets weekly 1/2 hr lessons at the same % off as his merit aid % of tuition by being in the orchestra ) .
So nice of you to reply a year later. Acceptance letters go out this coming Friday. The music department was so friendly and welcoming at the audition weekend that I was certainly expecting for her to receive a letter one way or the other. How odd that they don’t do that. I guess we’ll know one way or the other by this time next week. I’m so glad your son is happy at Hamilton!! Thanks again.
