2016 Spring Transfer discussion

Hello all, I’m a Spring Transfer applicant for W&M and I’m extremely excited to hear the decisions next month! Please share below your experience with W&M, where your transferring from, and what year you’re in. Best of luck to everyone!

I’m actually planning to transfer for next fall. I’m currently a freshman and was waitlisted when I applied RD. I’m afraid of getting waitlisted again and knew the acceptance as a freshman spring transfer would be incredibly slim for me, considering the courses prescribed by my college for me and my mediocre test scores from high school. Grades were fine and are fine now, but I was on the edge. Anyway, wanted to pass on my luck to you! I know the wait is agonizing.

Thanks! Yeah spots for Spring freshmen are extremely limited, but I have nothing to lose. I’ll just apply again fo Fall if it doesn’t work out. Where are you currently?

I’m a freshman as well

That’s definitely a good point. I guess I wanted to give myself time to like where I was at, currently, but I’ve come to realize that in the long run, at least, this will likely not work out for what I want to get out of my four years at college. I’m at CNU. I don’t hate it at all and am really pleased that, out of my choices, this is where I ended up. I am just not sure if I could see myself here for the next four years and am not sure if they have enough for my major, that’s all. I visited W&M for the transfer event on Friday and loved it! I won’t go into detail, but it definitely seemed like they had a lot for me there, so that was very promising. (Also, it wasn’t my first visit, but I wanted to make sure it was where I wanted to go if I did end up transferring.) I’m not sure what the next couple of months will bring. I could go through the process and decide not to transfer in the end, but I don’t think that will happen. What about you?

I applied ED last year and was deferred, then denied. I knew I wanted to transfer in as soon as possible, so I ended up deciding to go to community college rather than go through adjusting to a new environment twice. I also didn’t want to risk credits not transferring, when the time came. William and Mary just feels like home to me. I’m not really counting on getting in for Spring, but like I said, I had nothing to lose.

Have you heard anything? I’m gearing up to start my application up once finals end. I’m definitely keen on transferring (not that there was much contest about it in the first place, despite what my previous post might have suggested-- I’d be a little more hesitant if a good portion of my credits didn’t transfer over) and genuinely want to attend W&M so I’ve been prepping as hard as can, and I’d like to start the application process as soon as possible so I can take my time with everything.

I got in!!! Best of luck to you, my friend! I’m on cloud 9 right now!

YAY! So happy for you! Hopefully I’ll have some good news to share too in a few months! I’ll keep you posted!

Is there a facebook group for those who have been admitted?
