2017-2018 Questbridge National College Match Finalists

@aspiringgirl I’ve gotten a couple from Yale but not Princeton or Stanford yet.

Nothing from Rice yet

I’ve gotten stuff from Yale and Columbia and whatnot, still waiting on a bunch tho. Nothing from Haverford, for instance

Yale probably sends one out to everyone. I got one from Princeton before the Match decisions even came out. Since it wasn’t a university I ranked or contacted, they were pretty much telling me I didn’t make it to the Finalist.

I got one from Yale, Brown, and Wesleyan telling me that they received my application, and they all included info on how to login to their school’s portal. Nothing from Emory, Stanford, Oberlin, or Dartmouth.

Thanks @bluescreen87

Has anyone got email from MIT yet?

Don’t read anything into receiving emails from the partner schools, they are just a marketing tool. It doesn’t indicate their interest one way or another.

If I want to drop schools from my rank list, should I email Questbridge? Or is it sufficient to just revise my rankings form?

I noticed Yale’s portal had a link had a withdrawal request form but I didn’t notice it on any other college’s portals.

@CottonTales We aren’t talking about the emails that are like, “you’re a great student; apply to our school!!!” I’m pretty sure we are all just talking about the email from partner colleges that we ranked. The email will have our login info to get into the school’s application portal, and it also has other important info. Like Wesleyan sent me this form where I had to select if I wanted my ACT, SAT, SAT II, or None of my scores sent to them. I had to fill out that form by October 24th.

@aspiringgirl, gotcha.

@MasterOfAll I got the email from MIT at 4pm today

Essays (rating 1-10, details):
I think both of my essays were really strong, but could have been a bit more personal. For the first, I wrote about how reading shaped my childhood and my second was about my natural hair transition.

Recommendations (rating 1-10, details):

Teacher Rec #1: Honestly don’t know rating-wise because I waived my rights to all recs; asked my women in sci mentor. I know her the best out of all my teachers. We talk A LOT about politics, the news, and the losers she’s dated in the past. Really trust her for personal advice. Possibly my favorite teacher ever.

Teacher Rec #2: Already retired World History teacher(took me a while to track him down). Knew me very well. Used to talk with him about my future and my reservations about going to college and leaving home. Pretty quirky but his class was phenomenal.

Counselor Rec: Has to manage a lot of kids and doesn’t know my life outside of school very well, but really likes me and wants to see me do well

Additional Rec: N/A
Interview: N/A

Other:

Intended Major: CS and Sociology
State (if domestic applicant): TX
Country (if international applicant):
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: Nigerian-American
Gender: Female
Income Bracket: <30,000
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): URM/female in STEM/left-handed? lol

Reflection

Strengths: I really think my essays and short answers were the things that made me shine through as an individual.
Weaknesses: I have a couple classes that I wish I could do over again grade-wise.
Why you think you were accepted/rejected: Essays I think

Finalists, Has anyone gotten emails from Emory, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Chicago or Princeton. I’ve gotten emails from my other ranked colleges, but I still have not received any from them.

@Bigtuna356 I ranked Princeton and haven’t gotten an email, for what it matters.

Did anyone here rank Brown? Does anyone know how many finalists they usually match?

I heard that the average for last year was 7 colleges. BTW, I ranked Brown!!!

I’m a QB Finalist and for some of my ranked colleges I need to turn in a common app. I was wondering if I need to turn in the same essay that I did for QB to my common app.

@Bigtuna356 No, the colleges will see your QB app and the common app. I’m pretty sure it needs to be a different essay.

@Bigtuna356 @GreekLethe actually, a lot of the partner colleges advise you to put one of the essays you used for qb on the common app
