2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

does anyone know if students who are legacies have a higher chance of acceptance or is it about the same?

Does anyone know the average GPA for English transfers who got admitted at USC?

@moncc44 I know legacy is a pretty big factor in USC admissions. I had legacy when I applied 2 years ago and I was accepted but really it’s hard to tell whether it was the legacy or my application (most likely both)

How long do you guys think they spend on our applications? I was thinking about this about how they get thousands of applications that they have to go through in the matter of months. They must be spending only like 10 mins on each of our apps!

@Mastodon97 actually it’s nothing compared to the UC’s lol it doesn’t exceed 10,000 applicants

Hey guys. I applied to USC with a 3.73 gpa. I got a C in calc 1 due to personal problems that I explained in the additional comments section. However I got an A on calculus 2 this fall semester. Do you guys think that getting a C in calc 1 will greatly impact my chances on being admitted?

@uscdream19 probably not, they like improvement and you also have a high gpa which i right on there average. Sine you explained the grade drop and did show improvement I wouldn’t see why it would impact your chances. I think the only way it would really hurt you if it dropped your gpa lower than the average acceptance rate.

@dreamla thanks. I was just worrying that it would since it’s a major req…

Anyone know when Annenberg starts admitting people?

Hi everyone. I feel like I’m the only one who has gpa lower than 3.7. Can anyone chance me? I will have 70 transferable credits after this spring and my current gpa is 3.55. I’m having a heavy course load, I took 23 units last fall and 21 units this spring. I also work 30 hours per week. I took cc classes since when I was in hs, as I tried to graduate hs early. Before I graduate from hs, I already had 20 transferable units and I didn’t plan to transfer or go to univ. I have 2 W’s and explained in the essay. I wrote essay about what I learned from early graduation and reason why I decide to transfer (cliché?). I really don’t think early graduation as a merit. My major is accounting and I’m super worried as marshall is competitive. Good thing is that I finished all of GE’s and took recommended classes (accounting 1 and 2). But I’m taking English and business calc this semester. At least, I wanna get a SGR. Any advice?

@oshpsm you’ll definitely be receiving an SGR, but do well in those calc and writing classes and I think you’ll have a pretty good chance since you’ve completed the general education courses. Good luck!

This wait is killing me. I wish decisions were sent early lol.

What are the scholarships that notify transfers they have been admitted? In other words, are there any scholarships that require an interview that would indicate we have been admitted before the official admission decision?

@CornellAEMplease if accepted to Cornell and USC, which would you choose? I’m interested because I had and might have that decision again.

@stahboy considering how prestigious Stanford is I would have picked them over USC.

@OCCtoUSC That’s a really interesting question actually. I remember that for UCLA, I was sent an email to submit materials for their Regents Scholarship, but I ultimately got rejected. I didn’t actually do anything for that given the relatively short notice (I think I had 2 weeks to get new letters of recommendation), but it would have been a waste anyway. I’m not sure if there’s anything similar for USC, but if there is, it might not exactly be an indication of an acceptance. Some people on the UC Transfer thread thought UCLA sending me that Regents email meant I was already in, but apparently not.

@zettasyntax wow that’s cruel for them to send you that email and then reject you. im surprised.

My senior year applying I received an email for a scholarship from Usc and I still got rejected lol.

@Pantafootball Wait I said Cornell not Stanford

Do you guys know how much weight grades will affect admissions? Like an actual percentage? Is like 70% a realistic number?
