2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

Judging from last year’s thread, does Dornsife release decisions earlier than the other USC colleges? It seemed like the earliest people heard back was around March 30th and were Dornsife applicants. I wonder what the earliest date will be this year. The wait is going to be agonizing.

@kamtea most transfers that hear back early 90% are TTP people. I don’t think it has to do with the schools within USC. The rest of us probably won’t hear back until late April/early may (CRY)

First years are getting their decisions mailed out next week on the 23rd according to USC’s insta and the packages (well the box because that’s they posted) ARE SO PRETTYYYY.
But this also means they are going to start looking at our apps if they haven’t already! Since they finished decisions already for first years. It’s the beginning to the end people! Wooo good luck to us all!!!

Yeah I just saw the Instagram post too looks like the lucky 8,500 lucky freshman are getting them march 23rd. And it looked like boxes that are being sent… how awesome !!!

@mellyjune best of luck to you! Hope you get in!

at the MOST, only two and a half more months. That’s less than 75 days away

YAY ?

It is my hope that you all will become my Trojan brethren and sisterenh as we dine in the great halls of parkside

I’ll dine in a cardboard box on the side of Jefferson Boulevard if it means an acceptance

@stahboy ahhh THANK YOU I hope that decision making is easier for you! But either way, you have two amazing schools to choose from so I’m sure it’ll be all good!!!

So…we won’t hear back until late april?

Hello Applicants,

I applied to USC last year and was denied after a lot of waiting. I was very bummed and couldn’t see my world without USC. I attended another school so I could keep my education going and long story short found a new home. I do not want to come off bitter or “salty” about the denial, but I do want to offer some advice to those interested. I stressed everyday over this decision from February to late July–all I hope this message conveys is to try not to stress about the process too much and jeopardize your health or well being. A denial might hurt and have you asking why, but if you power through it is well worth it. If you care about your future everything will work out in the long run. With that said I wish you good luck and hope you all get in to SC or at least find a new home for your academic future! Hope this long message doesn’t annoy you. Fight on!

@ryanstartedthefire2020 well said. I was like you like except I’m reapplying this year. Since I know I will hear back in April and I have apply last year and was rejected, I guess I’m not as anxious as everyone else who is applying for the first time.

So…I shouldnt be refreshing my you.usc portal every hour?

@IwcWombat If you live in the US, chances are you’ll receive your mailed decision before your portal even changes. There have been ‘leaks’ in the portal in previous years that sort of let people know who got in early, like they’ll have new links on their portal page, etc… but they may have fixed the leaks this year and sometimes changes in the portal are just web glitches and not actual leaks… so the leaks aren’t a reliable way of knowing if you got in or not.

It’s good to check the portal once in a while to make sure they don’t need some additional info from you but it won’t do much to check it every hour haha I’m guilty of doing that though! I keep checking even though I know nothing is changing for awhile

@mellyjune Thanks melly! My fingers are quite tired of clicking f5 every hour for the past 3 months!

@IvyLeague2 if you have 30 or more transferable credits, USC won’t look at your HS grades or test scores. ECs don’t do much (for USC transfer admissions anyways) other than show them what kind of person you are and what interests you have. If you have the major requirements completed and a good amount of GEs completed (along with the 30 credits) I think you’ll have a good shot because of your 3.9 GPA. Good luck!

@IvyLeague2 so that you can see which classes from your college transfer, here is the link to a site with all USC articulation agreements:

So how does USC reject people? Do they send an email or a letter? Lol just preparing for the worst…

@arteest1 There was a rejection PDF on my portal, then I remember getting a physical letter like ~2 weeks after that. I believe historically, you get your acceptance packet (box now, I guess) a few days before your portal updates showing any indication that you’re accepted. Of course, there’s always the possibility of mail delays, but usually, it’s probably a better idea to stalk the mailman because they have a 1-3 day lead on your portal. Unless, everything changes this year :stuck_out_tongue:

@penntousc I’ll have 64 completed precisely. Am I good?
