@UCtoUSC oh wow well yeah if you got your spring grade request this early I think that’s a good thing. Isn’t it like a fact that transfers are guaranteed an admission decision or SGR before June 1st? So if you’ve received one this early, then I’d say it’s a good sign that they’re only needing a few more factors to go into your admission decision. And not to mention that you’re on TTP, right?
and I also remember hearing at least one story on this thread where someone submitted their SGR and got their admission decision within like a week. was that @zettasyntax ?
I just found out that the housing deposit for my backup school is only refundable until May 15th… then I see that if I cancel the housing request between June 8th and July 1st, I have to pay a $500 cancellation fee, on top of forfeiting the $250 deposit… and if it’s cancelled between July 2nd and August 28th, it’s a $1000 cancellation fee on top of the $250 deposit… anyone ever head of this bullsh*t before? One of those is bound to happen, I guess I just have to hope to god that I only have to forfeit the deposit…
This wait is killing me.
I read last year’s dicussion and most of people who got an SGR got their decisions on first week of July. I’m literally dying since I don’t think I can bomb this semester… I have 70 units now so I’m not sure what classes I should take if I get a flat out rejection and plan to re-apply
@oshpsm there were some that got it in July but I’d say the majority of decisions came in May and June, I know some of the people that heard in July didn’t even finish the spring semester until June though… I’m just dumbfounded by the amount of money I’ll have to pay just to hold a spot at another school lol
@penntousc I’m just going to take another year of CC if I don’t get in… so I don’t have to worry about putting a deposit down for another school. USC or nothing! Haha
@UCtoUSC @pianorite I’m also in the same boat. I’m on TTP, and they just asked for my winter grades as well. Maybe it’s because the schools we’re at right now are quarter systems and winter quarter ends this week. Are you guys applying as sophomore or junior transfer? I heard that sophomore transfers get asked for WGR/SGR more than the juniors.
@Pantafootball the funny thing is that the school I’m putting a deposit on is the school I would have given a limb to attend during the application process last year… now, I find the fact that I have to enroll to save a spot for myself to be a nuisance lol
@Pantafootball same here haha
I know this has been asked before, but does anyone know when TTP students studying abroad got their decisions? Does anyone know if they treat the TTP studying abroad differently than TTP studying at other universities?
@pianorite I wish that was me, haha. I got my SGR around April 23-ish or something, but my spring semester didn’t end until June 9th-ish. I didn’t hear until mid-July, so it took at least a month (I submitted grades as soon as they were available). I have heard stories of people hearing back after a week (heck, even one user said they heard back within the same week!), but I don’t really remember their names unfortunately =\ That’s why I like to advocate that people post in a stats thread so the info is easy to look up
I posted about my rejection in the 2014 stats thread.
@penntousc Hmm, I wonder if they’d be lenient at all. I didn’t decide to cancel my admission to UCLA until after their July transfer orientation. I read that whatever money I put toward housing would be lost, but one morning I woke up and saw that $750 was refunded to my card. I don’t believe I read anything about a cancellation fee though. Maybe that changes things. I sure hope you aren’t subjected to a super long wait so you don’t have to deal with that mess
@zettasyntax well if I get an SGR in April or early May, I might actually be able to get a decision by the end of May or beginning of June… I just can’t believe they would actually charge that much just for a cancellation!
I probably got the SGR this early since I’m on TTP. @kamtea yeah I’m a sophomore applicant. There’s a chance that since we got a grade request so early, we’ll hear back early as well. But I suppose we also could have received a grade request this early because we are on the quarter system, and should therefore expect a request for grades for our third quarter as well
@zettasyntax where you TTP? is that why you got a reply so early?
Why exactly do people get SGR?? Is it something given to people who haven’t finished their prereq’s or ge’s?? Or is for something who has a gpa a little below average for acceptance?
@UCtoUSC That’s not a spring grade request. It should say that they’re asking for your spring grades. Since they’re saying that they need your recent grades I’m assuming it’s your Fall and Winter course since you go to a UC which is on a quarter system.
@pomeranian4rich yeah, but serves essentially the same purpose since they’re asking for recent grades. I’m wondering if they are going to ask for my spring quarter grades or not
@UCtoUSC when I was asked for a sgr it explicitly said “spring grades” not “recent grades” for me.
@kamtea I’m actually not on TTP that’s why I thought it was kind of interesting that USC has requested for my winter grades! And I don’t even know if I’d be considered a junior applicant because although I’m applying straight out of high school (class of 2016 lol), I now have 110 quarterly credits but I don’t know how many of those will actually transfer and I believe it’s based on the number of transferrable credits that determines one’s academic year. I also uploaded an “additional information” document on my USC portal explaining that I will not be enrolled in community college for spring quarter and the reason why. This is something that my major’s office of admission’s director advised me to do, that way I don’t receive a SGR.
