Hey everyone - apologies in advance for another question - but I noticed on my you.USC portal, the ‘check my application status’ message has changed from the “We have requested your spring grades” message back to the “We have received your Common Application and USC supplements and it appears we require no information at this time” message. The SGR request still appears in the ‘message history’. However, the status text changed without me doing anything.
Could this mean anything significant?
@EnduranceArtist if I had to guess I’d say you have a decision coming, but I’m not an admissions officer so I don’t know for sure lol
@EnduranceArtist I’ve had that for awhile now. Did yours change recently? I think it changed for me when they received my last transcript 2 weeks ago and I no longer had anymore items in the required documents section. Do others see a message different from that?
@penntousc Interesting.
@enpz45 The message changed for me today, however I’ve yet to submit anything. USC sent a SGR a week ago. My spring grades won’t be available for another two months. I’ve done nothing, and the message still changed back to saying they require no additional documents.
In addition, now nothing appears under “required documents” in the “submit application documents” link.
@EnduranceArtist I think it’s what the portal is programmed to change to once nothing is in required documents area. .
@enpz45 Agreed. I just wonder what it means, given I’ve yet to submit my spring grades, which they previously requested.
I’d love to know if users have seen this happen in past threads, and if this is indicative of anything, or just a glitch.
@EnduranceArtist Are you TTP?
@enpz45 Yes.
@chap97 Sounds cool! I uploaded mine online. Have you heard anything yet?
Ok. I’m not TTP. Let me know if you find anything on previous year threads tho @EnduranceArtist @
@hustlemuscle and @gatsby22 holy shit why did I not know about this scholarship :(( that’s amazing though! I hope everything works out for both of you!
@EnduranceArtist regarding glitches, idk if this is important or useful, but back in like February? idk when exactly bc I submitted my app back in November lol but my portal had an option to submit “midterm grades” (which is usually for HS students I believe) when I would check my application status. I asked my major’s office of admissions about it and she didn’t really have any explanation. The option went away within a few days, though. But basically, if this short occurrence was anything significant, I think it just goes to show how the portal is prone to glitches, too. So, maybe what happened to me is similar to what you encountered? One thing to note, though, is that when I saw this glitch, it was around the time period of a few days when USC was apparently performing maintenance on the portal (it said so on the login page).
So when USC is looking at our grades/gpa will they only look at grades earned in USC transferable courses? and only calculate the gpa based on those or is it all classes taken regardless if they transfer?
nvm just checked lol they dont look at non transferable. so since USC only calculates gpa for transferable courses, will a B- in a non-transferabble course effect my chances? I submitted fall grades with a 4.0. this winter quarter i got one B- and all As, but the B- was in a non-transferrable math course. Spring quarter starts in a week, If i get a SGR and and submit my winter + spring grades, (assuming i also get a 4.0 in spring), will i still have a 4.0 overall or will the B- in the math course effect it?
You answered your own question!! They don’t take in non-transferable courses so no need to worry
@Skepta
@dreamla lol yea thats what i thought. I just hope that when they look at spring grades they actually only focus on transferable courses instead of just looking at the gpa as a whole.
So has everyone on the TTP heard back?
@stahboy I’m on the TTP and have not heard back yet. I applied to Dornsife and met all the requirements.
I was accepted to Pepperdine but the deposit is due May 1 which poses an issue because I will likely not hear anything back from USC until after that. I was thinking of just paying the deposit, but it is $750- which I am not willing to lose lol. Not very happy that the deposit date is so soon
