@usctransferivc Yup I remember when I was on last year’s thread I didn’t feel that attached. But now that I’m in the process it feels good to know we’re all in this together rejection or not. I wouldn’t mind a cocktail party, especially if we get accepted :’)
so down. Of course, when we get accepted :D! We should expect to hear a lot by the end of this month right?
Pressure was relieved when I was accepted to UC Santa Barbara. Worst case scenario I have to go to school on the beach. Hang in there people, focus on your final semester.
I have taken the elective Gen Eds. I’ve also completed Micro and marco econ with A’s, and will take Calc either this fall or in the summer 100% @pomeranian4rich. I am planning on applying this fall and was wondering my chances though or what I need to strengthen. I am from Chicago, but I am doing the UC system to make sure that I not only fulfill the UC’s requirements, but to also make sure that I have a wide range of classes that I have taken in all of the Gen ed requirements. I am also pushing to take calc in the summer and possibly calc 2 in the fall. At latest, Calc 1 in fall, Calc 2 in spring
@chap97 Nothing yet. This wait is torture haha
@IvyLeague2 It sounds like your on the right path. Just keep your GPA up and you will be fine. One thing USC hammers home is the importance of GPA, keep it above a 3.7. Besides calc, check out the GE’s USC wants for you to graduate and do as many of those as possible if not all. Don’t join clubs at the expense of your GPA. Jobs/internships are more impressive anyways.
BTW Sociology is not really a measuring stick for much. Probably one of the easier classes in college next to art and history. Get that kind of recommendation from your business and math teachers…that will help.
My 2cents
Yeah I am probably going to get it from my sociology professor or my economics professor
In Santa Monica College, how difficult is it to get a 3.8 GPA? do you think it is too hard to achieve?
Over the weekend I received a message saying I had not turned in my final high school transcript. I know its my fault for not doing so but it is a little irritating that the portal stated for months that “they have all the documents that they need” and then it says oh wait never mind we still need one more thing last minute. I don’t really think this will hurt my chances that much but it might and it will definitely push out my decision. Has this happened to anyone or does anyone have some words for me ahahah
@CC2080 I go to Santa Monica and have a 4.0 Engineering GPA. It all depends on how hard you work. Ya sure maybe SMC is known to be difficult but you should look at is an indication of preparation to the institution you transfer too. This is a question you should be asking of yourself and your work ethic, not in this thread.
Do you guys have any advice on preparing to transfer to USC? I was rejected this year as a freshman applicant an I am already trying to figure out how I can still attend despite not being accepted for my first year of college. I live in Memphis, TN and will mostly like be attending the University of Memphis for my first year. (4 year university) My intended major is journalism. Also, is it wise to take on 5 class per semester in order to have 30+ credits? I do pretty well at balancing my workload and multitasking. I wasn’t able to get as involved as I would have liked in HS, but I plan to join a few clubs, take on some leadership roles, and definitely do commmunity service. Just to give an idea of the type of student I am, my overall HS GPA is 3.8-4.0. The only thing that I feel has held me back has been EC’s and my standardized test scores. But I know I am capable of exceeding high expectations, so my goal for my first year is to start with a fresh slate and just kick ass
USC and Northwestern have two of the best Journalism programs. Hopefully Fall of 2018 I will be able to call myself a trojan. :-?
@123456seven lol not to come off as rude or condescending but are you saying you tried to get away with not turning in your HS transcript and now are asking if anyone is in the same boat where they were told that all documents were turned in but now USC is finally asking for whatever was truly missing? The portal is prone to problems like anything on the internet so you cannot expect that just because it claims to have everything, that it does… I’m just confused why you assumed that USC had some imaginary HS transcript of yours then…
also WHAT THE HECK. i just woke up and checked my portal to find my admission decision: ACCEPTED!!! then checked my mailbox and the beautiful big package was there… Also, I am NOT TTP… so this is an interesting year. I’ll be sure to post my stats on the stats thread soon.
@pianorite congrats!
@pianorite No Im not trying to hide my high school transcript at all. I had 4.1 in highschool. I just never sent my high school transcript because the time between when high school ended and when I applied to USC for transfer was pretty great so I simply forgot and never got notification that I need to send it. When high school ended, everyone sent their transcripts to their respective schools but I was going to a CC so I just sent it to my self so I could ultimately send it to which ever school I applied to transfer to. Bottom line, I am not trying to hide my high school grades at all. I just simply goofed and forgot.
@pianorite Also congrats m8
@pianorite CONGRATSS also what is your gpa in CC? Just to get an understanding of how I should to in CC this fall
Also for people studying in SMC, do you like it?
One last question, can you transfer after studying for 1 year in SMC? or is it too hard to get all those credits in one year because I heard some people were telling how impossible that was
@123456seven Ah I see, my bad. And thank you! and @penntousc . But yeah that’s ok, mistakes happen. You’re right when you say that it won’t affect your admission chances, but will definitely slow down the admission process so you may receive a later decision. Then again, I submitted my final transcript (winter quarter grades for me) the day they were available (3/23? If I recall correctly) and my admission decision was available 3/31 and arrived in my mailbox today. So, if they’re going at the rate they are right now, i could be wrong and you may still receive your decision at a “normal” time!
