@pianorite are you a rising sophomore or junior?
@pianorite congrats!!! what was your GPA/major!!?
@pianorite Congrats!! What did your portal look like when you were accepted?
Hi guys, so my case is really unusual for many factors so I will definitely post my stats and any other useful info that could be helpful/relevant to my unusually early admission decision. To answer a few questions quickly, my GPA from CC was something around 3.94. I’m from an out-of-state community college that’s on the quarter system. I’ll let you guys know when I post it because it may be long and I gotta run some errands first lol
@ashurikko instead of “check application status” and “withdraw application” it instead has “admission decision”!
Officially freaking out. I need to knowww
Are there any other SCA applicants out there?
@chap97 me!
@jae2017 have you heard anything? What are your stats?
@chap97 I haven’t heard anything! My stats are a little difficult and over the place, which is why I don’t usually post in the threads, haha. I went to 2 community colleges in California and have a 4.0 in both. I also went to Portland State University and University of the Philippines, so my GPA really depends on what they’d take and what they wouldn’t. I am assuming they won’t take any of my foreign coursework. In my application, I calculated 3.9 and applied for Junior status since I have more than 90 units. I have some volunteer non-profit work, as well as work as a Senior Finance Analyst full-time. Not really much in terms of school activities.
How about you? What major did you apply to?
I’m a senior in high school and I want earn college credits in the summer so that i can have my gap year to focus on my career goals and volunteering starting in Fall 2017. I want to apply by the December 1st 2018 deadline, which means I probably won’t have 30 credits by the summer. Is this realistic? My high school unweighted gpa is 3.8 and my sat is 1120. I could take a gap year and go to cc in fall 2018, but I want to go to a 4-year university by Fall 2018. I worry that I won’t be a strong applicant with less than 30 credits and a low sat score. Of course I would have to increase my score in during that summer in addition to class work.
@pianorite Congrats!! I’m also on a quarter system and submitted my winter transcript, but it’s still shown as missing on my portal. Did you mail or email your winter transcript? I’m getting worried that they haven’t received it.
@kamtea @pianorite Did you both receive a Winter Grade Request or did you just send in your Winter grades when they were available? I am at a quarter system school and I have still not heard back.
@fightontom So I’m not sure if I should call it a Winter Grade Request since it was shown in my youSC portal as “missing application materials” even though they’re technically not missing bc that was the first I had been asked to submit then. This notice came about a week before my community college’s winter grades were available. I sent my Winter Grades to USC Thornton Admission (bc that’s my major) the day they were available online.
@kamtea Thank you! yeah mine still says “Missing USC Application Materials” posted 3/17 (I think that’s the day my school’s winter quarter ended too) even though my portal now says “3/31 admission decision notification.” Oh and I mailed my final transcript
Hi guys, so I made a long-ass stats post on @pomeranian4rich 's thread http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/1978775-usc-fall-2017-transfer-students-stats-decisions-only.html#latest
I have a question. If I drop my calculus 2 class and receive a W, am I completely disqualified from being looked at for transfer to USC. I am applying to Marshall, and will have my AA-T even without the calc 2, it will be the only pre requisite I would be missing.
Any insight would be helpful
Also to note from last year people have said that you can see “#igotintousc” somewhere on your app portal before clicking on admission decision lol, what a way to ruin the surprise xD @pianorite correct me if i’m wrong.
@Zerzavy If calc 2 is required for marshall then yes you might be completely disqualified/rejected unless they have good reasons to admit you for having excellent EC or a well written essay. It’s better to take the class and strive for a C if not a B. They might reconsider you for spring admit.
@jae2017 I go to a film school in Chicago currently. I have a 3.981 GPA unweighted. At the end of this semester, I’ll have taken 65 credits, though I’m not sure how many would transfer. I’ve been given different information about that between the articulation agreement and regional counselors. I have a decent amount of film experience (a lot of PA work on short films, but also some producing and directing of my own projects). In addition, I am currently interning at a small production company, helping them to set up a feature for this summer.
I applied to Production and media studies. Haven’t heard anything yet. Just checking the portal 50 times a day hoping for something.
