2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@SportsNerd24 I plan to get financial aid. But, honestly, if I don’t I will not be attending. No education is worth being in debt of half a million dollars in my opinion

@SportsNerd24 well a full 4 years at USC would only cost a little over 250k total with ZERO aid, so there’s other reasons why they’re chest deep in debt. I expect to get all of the aid that I need, give or take a few thousand, because my parents financial situation is pretty straight forward. For anything else I’ll take out private loans (after the fed loans), but I don’t expect to be any more than 30-40k in debt after graduation.

@SportsNerd24 and also, doctors and lawyers are a totally different story, because they require many additional years of education before they’re able to start practicing… not sure about engineers though.

Does anyone know what the pre-requisite and or major requirements are for the International Relations major within Dornsife. I looked at the handbook and I did not see anything other than the foreign language requirement. Can that be done at USC if admitted? I have been focusing on completing as many of the GE requirements as possible because I don’t see anything that is required (i.e. math) for the major. Any information would be helpful.

When does USC start accepting students? Or at least when have they in previous years?

@lexluthor96 for non-ttp the earliest was april 27th and on. This based on last years thread and from 2 of my friends who transfered to USC last year.

Guys I decided to stay in my linear Algebra class. It’s a risk In that I mite get a C and accept what comes at me then. Taking the W can make me rejected anyways so I’m gonna FIGHT ON for the B! Good luck to everyone too in their classes!

@itslife123 Just know you’re not alone in your battle against lin hellgebra xp

@SportsNerd24 if they don’t give me the amount of money I’m hoping to receive then i will just go to my backup school (UCSB) which I got practically got a full ride too and just go to usc for graduate school/law school. I know ill be sad but when it comes down to my future and debt and knowing I will go to law school I can’t risk it. I am ok with doing sb because i love it there as well as how it’ll help me achieve a high gpa vs cal or ucla wouldnt because of how tough it is. However i will strive to go to usc one day due to my career goals and family legacy.

@IwcWombat The struggle that only we would truly know. Truly on a different level from Diff Eqn and Calc 2. Btw what CC are you from?

@itslife123 Pasadena City College

@SportsNerd24 lol literally something I stress about daily as I await my financial aid package

unrelated to USC but man is anyone else hyped for the Kendrick album and Joey Badass album dropping this friday?! haha where the hip hop fans at, atleast these albums will help get through the long wait.

@Skepta hell yeah, been waiting on a new Kendrick album for some time now

Geez I just want to know if I got in already… Waiting to hear back in late April through June is rough. I’m also wating to hear back from Berkley and UCLA, but of course, I want USC hands down. School is kickin my a** rn trying to keep a 3.94. I got 2 questions though,

I feel like I’ll get a RSG even though I’m a legacy and I applied for Sociology (Dornsife) because I’m taking the required 2nd year of English… Can anyone comment if they believe that’s true or heard anything about that?

Only other thing on my application that I hate is that I took 2 classes (6 units, kind of easy classes too; GEOG 100 and BIOL 100) elected to the P/NP option in the summer because I was working full time 50 hrs and taking 10 units total in order to transfer to a school I wanted to go to originally. HOWEVER, with all of my graded classes and excluding the P’s that I had no other grading option, I total out at 72 graded units (including the classes I’m taking this semester and I started Fall 2015). So 81 total units with the P’s after this semester is over. Any comments or concerns about this to rest my mind?

Also a side question… Is it weird that I got into UCSD and not SDSU?? I go to school in OC so maybe that’s why? Smh… lol

Good luck y’all

@eljefe123 SDSU actually has a lower acceptance rate than UCSD!

@eljefe79 usually those who have either the math or writing requirements in progress always get an SGR (if not rejected), but last year someone got in with the second english in progress, and this year I think 1 or 2 people have gotten in with major requirements in progress, so it’s sort of up in the air. I doubt the amount of units you have will affect your admission, because anybody with over 30 transferable units will have their high school grades and test scores completely ignored. As long as you have most, if not all of the GEs completed as well as your major requirements, I think you’ll have a good chance. Doesn’t mean much coming from me though, because USC rejects plenty of high GPA applicants, and they accept some lower (not many though) GPA applicants. Good luck!

Does anybody think it would be smart to upload a midterm report to show my current grades (that are all currently A’s)

@chap97 I called because I was curious and the person I spoke to in admissions says that they don’t really like midterm reports and if anything they would prefer unofficial transcripts/transcripts.

Or not that they dislike them, but they don’t like getting anything they didn’t ask for that isn’t an unofficial/official transcript.

My expected family contribution is more than what my mom makes a year :frowning: my parents are divorced and my dad supports 4 children and his wife doesn’t work . I’m screwed :frowning:
