@Skepta there was a person accepted for spring admission last year, had a 3.6 fall and 3.4 spring, was an incoming sophomore… USC is not an Ivy League, they’re a little more understanding than that lol. A C won’t impact you that much as long as it’s not a critical course that you’re getting a C in, and as long as the rest of your GPA is good.
Yes critical course as in Calculus for Marshall Transfers. That’s a no no. Everyone says so many different things, if I get a C and get rejected it is what it is. But never will I think that a C will cement a rejection. No need to be @Skepta “cal” now
@Skepta if I can recall from @zettasyntax He mentioned that a transfer student got a C in calculus which is needed for marshall and despite that C he still was offered admission.
@itslife123 haha that was a good one :)) @Skepta and yeah unless it’s a really important class like let’s say calculus and the English requirement (Marshall) then a C would most likely be a straight rejection and I say that because at the transfer event in January the Marshall admission councilor was telling us about yeah do as much GEs and have full time school schedules oh and your calc and English grades we want to see As or Bs (preferably As) that was in bold on the PowerPoint slide… but obviously I’m sure if a ge went wrong or a prior math class got you a C then it wouldn’t mean the end of the world. But obviously you can’t be getting Cs every semester which is expected.
@pantafootball2 it was it in math 42(trig) and it’s also non-transferrable to USC, I’m taking Calc this quarter so hopefully an A in that will show em i don’t suck at math lol
@Skepta I also remember a transfer applicant from the beginning of this thread who had a 3.4 gpa (im assuming he had to have at least one C with a gpa like that unless he got straight Bs) but he got an A in calc and in English and he was accepted … he was a junior applicant.
@Skepta haha dude don’t even worry if it’s not transferable then you have nothing to worry about… plus an A in calc will completely dismiss the fact that you’re bad at math lol and actually I’m in such a similar situation I also got a c in trig (It was my first semester of college and I thought I could get an A without doing homework lol dumb mistake) but I’m taking calculus this semester so it’s important we do get that A
@Skepta nontransferable courses aren’t factored into the GPA that will transfer to USC, so it literally shouldn’t have any impact on you whatsoever
It’s crazy cause getting into USC is one thing. Then you have to worry about the possibility of getting rescinded even if its unlikely. Sometimes USC has those strict conditions of acceptance. Which is weird because if they really cared about the Spring Semester they should be asking for SGR’S in that case. However, I hear from SC students that admissions try their best to not rescind you.
I am a sophomore applicant with a 3.94 and will have 34 credits by the end of this semester. I am applying to Dornsife but have not received an SGR…is this a bad sign?
@srubien no SGRs usually start coming in April 27th and onward.
Hey, do you guys know if there is a way to submit your Midterm Report through the portal? Like by scanning it and sending it online? Or do I have to send it by mail?
@bettycrocker03 don’t worry about submitting a midterm report, they’ll request your grades if they want them… won’t speed up or impact your decision at all
Hi everyone! I just got an email USC is requesting my winter grades (I go to a quarter system community college). When I check my portal it says they requested these documents as of yesterday. Is this basically an SGR or do all applicants receive this request? Thanks!!
@lilz typically all students on the quarter system receive a winter grade request, different from an SGR
Low key wish I would receive a WGR rather than an SGR lol
I am a sophomore at university of Washington. My first choice is econ/math, second choice is applied math. However, took CSE class at the winter quarter. It’s much harder than I thought and i fail it. It’s the only class that I fail. Will it have great adverse influence on my transcript? Can I ask to change my second major choice? Can anyone help me? Thanks!!
Damn the one C I got in math was this winter quarter lol kinda hope they just ask for SGR for me show I can show em the A in calc.
@Skepta probably a pretty high likelihood that they ask for winter quarter, that’d be similar to me sending in my application before my fall semester grades are posted and then USC only requesting my spring grades when they review my application… sort of a mandatory thing, but idk for sure
oh got it, i think I saw a few ppl from last year who just got SGR, i guess it varies just like everything else.
