2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

Feeling pretty good about the spring, worst case scenario I end up with a 3.94 cumulative bc of a possible B+ but I should have a 4.00… the wait for an SGR is killing me though

Should I be concerned if a SGR hasn’t been asked of me?

@coprice no, people have barely started hearing back. SGRs, acceptances, and rejections will continue to be sent out until late may, but theres no way to know who will hear back when.
Though many people will begin hearing back either end of this week or next, not hearing back isn’t a bad thing (other than the obvious extended wait time…). After all, USC has until June 1 to get all decisions and SGR back to us…
Hopefully we all hear back sooner rather than later… I stare down the mail truck everyday hahaha

@bugajskj @penntousc yeah possibly didn’t have either English or math requirement in progress for spring… or had very few to no GEs… I wish we knew though

@pantafootball2 @bugajskj well we’ll know soon enough when we start hearing back

@coprice Definitely no reason for concern. USC didn’t notify me of any decision until AFTER their deadline (June 5th is when I heard, which is apparently a weird case because I haven’t come across any other non-SGR people to hear after the deadline), so there’s still plenty of time to go and that’s not even counting those that actually get SGRs :stuck_out_tongue:

I uploaded transcripts a long time ago and since then I was done. Now a few days ago, it says that they want my transcripts. Is this a request for Spring grades or what?

Does anyone know if you need college algebra before attending USC? I applied to SCA and have taken other non transferable maths, but can’t take college algebra until summer.

I’m buzzing with excitement and anticipation. Hopefully we’ll hear SOMETHING soon

Not that I’ve got one, but does an SGR mean that you’re most likely admitted?

@inglebert it technically doesn’t mean anything other than the fact that they want to see your spring grades… But in my opinion, if you’re getting considered enough to not be outright rejected and you do well in the spring, you’ve got a pretty good shot

Also, chances of getting in with an SGR depend a lot on how many transfers and freshman have already enrolled, in terms of capacity

@Panitaispretty Me too, I have champagne bottles on stand by. If I get in to USC or Berkeley its going to look like a World Series victory celebration over here…ski goggles and everything lol.

@inglebert I agree with penntousc that getting an SGR is somewhat of a good sign since they didn’t just reject you from the start. It definitely depends on a lot of factors though. I received a very specialized SGR (when I called admissions, the worker I spoke with said that she had never seen an SGR like mine) that only asked for my grade in math. I got a B and was rejected in early July. Another applicant from that year (the Marshall applicant I like to refer to) also got a B in his math course (business calc) and he was accepted for the fall semester in mid-July after getting SGR-ed. You mileage definitely varies after receiving one (so it could be major/school dependent, possibly regional counselor dependent, etc).

What’s making everyone think that we could hear back soon? I applied to Annenberg– when are we supposed to hear back?

Which school did you apply to? I hope I don’t have to wait that long–I applied in early January :frowning:

@coprice in past years’ threads, people started hearing back (particularly Marshall applicants) right around this time, so we expect to receive decisions or SGRs either this or next week… not too sure about Annenberg though, but when you applied won’t impact when you receive your decision. If you’re a junior applicant with all of the requirements completed and have a high (3.7+) GPA, you will likely receive a decision within the next month or so. If you’re a sophomore applicant or if you have requirements missing/in progress, or you have a lower GPA, there’s the possibility that you receive an SGR and may not hear back until July.

Gahhh I really hope me getting a C in Linear Hellgebra won’t get me rejected. (Regretting taking a non pre req course. :’(

From what I’ve seen on past threads, Annenberg hears back in mid-May. I’m an Annenberg applicant too but I can’t wait another month to know my decision haha!

I really hope Marshall comes out soon. I will need to find a way to ship all my valuables back to California and doing so before the end of the semester would be awesome.
