2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@Skepta you got an SGR?

@penntousc I don’t know its just that I thought that 15 minutes is such a short time, so i don’t really know if it means anything. Like maintenances happen frequently and usually don’t mean anything.
But why even post a message about it on the portal login page for such a short maintenance… which made me think maybe its a hint! hahah but honestly I’m so delusional now because of the wait, that I don’t even trust myself and at this point I’m just letting my mind run free hahaha
Might as well keep myself entertained during the wait! Theres not too much time left!
too bad that even if they do post it tomorrow, we won’t have access to the updates until Sunday or Monday because they want us to get the physical letter (if accepted/denied, not SGR) first

@penntousc I sent an email to my counselor on 4/13, but I haven’t heard back from them yet. I also sent an email to admission, so I can get more details about the notifications I have received. I’ll definitely call them soon.

Is anyone here on the Trojan transfer plan? I was wondering if we get notified before the other applicants.

@cooljon525 yeah they usually do, I’m pretty sure a lot of TTP applicants have heard back already though

@mellyjune well if they update them tomorrow, the people that live nearby will probably receive the decision via mail on Saturday, but yeah everyone else probably wouldn’t know of their decisions/SGRs until early next week

@MartyM I am also at the University of Washington! What major are you trying to transfer into?

Side note to anyone on this thread: I am a sophomore transfer hoping to get into CogSci. USC was my dream school as a HS senior but I got crushed, mostly because I got a C’s in both semesters of AP Calculus my junior year, which completely destroyed my UW/W GPA. I tried taking Math 124 (Calc I) at UW again Winter Quarter, but was looking a B-, which is about a 2.7. In fears that this would destroy my GPA again, I W7 the class. Do you think USC will just understand that I fucking suck ass at Calculus? I’m going to try to take it at a CC over the summer…

I am 95% confident that the scheduled maintenance doesn’t have anything to do with admissions. I mean I hope that I’m wrong and I hope we all get accepted tomorrow, but it just doesn’t seem likely

@thadcastle if calc 1 is a requirement for your major, then there’s a pretty high chance you will be rejected (works the same with the business school, which I applied to)… USC hates to see W’s and you probably would have been better off taking the B-, but if the class isn’t required for your major, you should still have a shot depending on your GPA and the progress you’ve made with your major requirements and the GE requirements. As for taking it over the summer, they will only evaluate the classes that you’ve taken up until the spring, nothing after that. Best of luck to you though!

Hi guys, idk if this is relevant, but if makes you guys feel any better to know, my acceptance letter was mailed on a Friday (3/31) and I received it the following Monday (4/3)! Best of luck and I hope you all hear back soon ~

My portal says missing application material but when I called them, they said it shouldn’t say that and that my application is complete. But it has been a month now and they haven’t updated that message lol. I’ve sent my counselor 3 emails and she ignored all of them.

@pianorite where are you applying from?

Does anyone know whether a student applying as a junior would get an SGR? I checked my portal under “required documents” and it still says “none.” Is this a bad thing?

@millaportman it says none for most people, nothing to worry about.

What GPA do you need to have for them not to ask for SGR? I am in UCSB- a quarter system school and they have my fall and winter quarter grades which resulted in 3.83. But this quarter my classes are way harder so im kinda worried.

@cooljon525 if you are a TTP you probably won’t receive an SGR unless you are taking important classes for your major this quarter, then you might receive one because they’ll want to see the grade you received in that important class

@penntousc Thanks so much! I can breathe a little easier now.

@cooljon525 I was a TTP with a 4.0 and still got a SGR. However, I received my acceptance a week later. This happened late March on this forum if you want to jump to that discussion.

You need a 5.0 to not get a SGR. Meaning anyone, even with 4.0’s can get SGR’s

…What’s an SGR?
