@ashurikko I think the reason they have spring admits is because they don’t have enough space to admit everyone during fall semester. I also think that most junior applicants that are accepted receive fall admission but for sophomore it’s pretty split just from my observations of older threads.
SOMEONE HELP!!
https://camel2.usc.edu/TPG/SelctPgAgrmnt.aspx
This shows me lower division is Micro Econ and Macro
Does that mean I have to take before to transfer?
If I just have 1 is that fine?
@CornellAEMplease if you’re applying to Marshall, don’t take the econs because Marshall won’t accept them. There’s another page where it specifically says that but every time I go searching for it I have a difficult time finding it. Otherwise, I’m not 100% sure, but I know for a fact that Marshall will not accept other schools’ Econ courses as equivalents.
@CornellAEMplease @penntousc Idk about your school, but for mine, USC recommends that we take both micro and macro econ as it will improve our competitiveness. Just thought you should know this! Even though they want you to take business econ at their school, taking econ will show them how prepared you are for business econ. But if you can’t fit your econ in your schedule don’t do it. Focus on your GEs and other requirements. Taking Econ is just like sprinkles on a cake.
@CornellAEMplease @pomeranian4rich only reason I recommended not taking it is because you’ll have to take it again at USC anyways if you get in, I completely agree that it helps with competitiveness, but because USC cares more about the completion of GE’s and major/university requirements (writing, math), I would definitely recommend completing those first. Obviously, those things are critical specifically for sophomore applicants, so if you’re a junior applicant and have the credits to spare, I agree with taking Econ.
Hi Guys
USC’s my dream school. I want to transfer from my California cc to either Marshall or Econ. I’m going to be finishing up 57 units this semester, and I’m going to be taking at least 12 units next semester (for full time). That’s at least 69 units by the end of my sophomore year.
Do you think 2 B’s will get me rejected? One in Calc 1 and the other in a Poli Sci International Relations class
I’m freaking out!
@cc2LAuniversity you’re good to go lol… dont freak out. As long as you have your major req completed and your GE. I have emailed my admission counselor and she said A and B’s are ideal and anything below are not. If you do have C I think they look at your EC more closely.
@penntousc I think it depends on the school. My school’s articulation shows me it transfers.
@CornellAEMplease it transfers and it’ll count as credit as an elective but it won’t transfer as an equivalent (at least not for Marshall), meaning if those Econ classes are requirements for your major at USC, you’ll need to complete them again at USC regardless of whether or not you take them before you transfer. But I do agree that if you’re a junior applicant and you’ve got the credits to spare, it wouldn’t hurt and you’d obviously be more prepared for them at USC if you were to complete them at your current school.
@penntousc I don’t have them done. I will have micro done by the time I apply.
Do you think Dornslife Econ is better than Marshall for Investment banking?
@CornellAEMplease dorns life Econ is a social science it’s not going to teach you anything about investment banking… you’re going to learn the social science of economics , look at theories, study past famous economists, ext. don’t go into Econ thinking it’ll teach you investment banking, that’s a career in that case you’re better of going to a cal state to study finance since they focus specifically on those areas.
@CornellAEMplease and about the Econ requirement which is talked about over and over again… let me put it simply … if you’re going to USC for business admin. You do not need it cause it won’t satisfy their requirement, yes it transfers but as elective credit. If you’re transferring to USC for economics then yes take it cause it’s a major prep course that they do accept. You’ll get the same response from every USC councilor as I have multiple times from multiple sources.
@Pantafootball So will it affect me if i go in as economics and I haven’t taken it?
@CornellAEMplease yes if you’re going for Econ it’s going to affect you … if it’s for business admin it will not
@Pantafootball I will have only Econ Micro done, do you suggest I apply to business admin then?
@CornellAEMplease Yes since you are seeking a career in investment banking you would concentrate your Marshall classes with finance.
@arteest1 may I ask, are you planning to major in Communications?
How strict is USC with completing major prereqs? I’m interested in Computational Neuroscience, but looking over the Transfer Planning Guide, there’s about 9 courses which are listed as Major Prereqs. It’s very confusing because looking over other resources USC has, sometimes they say it’s recommended instead of a requirement…
@ashurikko No, public relations. You?
@arteest1 Communications but Public Relations is my 2nd choice
