Yeah I feel you on the USC or bust thing. I’m a California Community College. I’m black so I guess you can call me an under represented minority. I have a 3.89 and I’m applying to Marshall. I’m doing both the calculus and writing requirement this semester. It’s hard to take a math class during football season so that’s why I’m taking it now.
@mkjmkj I’m sorry to hear that and I’m sure the admissions officer(s) will understand your situation and easily see that you were a full time student before the incident. However, it’s tough for any of us to really decide whether or not it’ll hurt your chances since we’re not part of the admission committee…
The other schools I have applied to are UCI, UCSB, UCB and UCLA. I’m thinking about applying to U Washington, Miami (FL), Texas-Austin, Michigan and maybe an Ivy League school but I’m not sure which one.

@lilego69 you’re definitely getting SGR an admissions counselor for Marshall told the people at the event if we don’t have the English or math requirement done then we’ll be receiving an SGR without a doubt… get As in both and I’d say you’re pretty much set… also depending on how many of the 8 GEs you completed I did see your physical and life science GEs but how about the other 4 ?
@lilego69 You will def. get a SGR because of your calculus math requirement you’re taking in spring. be expected to hear a decision late july. How many usc GEs have you completed? seems like you’ve only completed 3 or 4 out of 10 GEs. you have similar stats like I did last year when I was rejected because of the low number of GEs I’ve completed.
@pomeranian4rich I am applying as an econ Major and will have 6/8 GEs done and all major reqs done by spring. I applied with 23 quarter units done (5 classes) with a 4.00 gpa. Do you think I’m gonna get an SGR as well?

Not really sure how many GE’s I have completed. By the time of graduation I will have become IGETC certified which means I could transfer to UC schools. I’ve completed all the GE’s I needed to on the list so I guess we’ll see. If my class selection is good enough for Berkeley or UCLA I don’t see why it wouldn’t be for USC. I took all the classes my community college recommends for USC. There’s a pretty strong articulation agreement.
@Skepta LOOL calm down I’ve already answered you and everyone else did too. I wouldn’t worry much and yes most freshman applicants will get a SGR regardless unless you’re a sophomore applicant.
@buizchick are you et or pt? If you submitted it within your time whether et or pt then you’re fine. dont worry about it.
Hey guys, were the grades supposed to be mailed at their office by Feb 1st?
@holic222 I’m sure it’s happened to other people as well turning it in right before the deadline. I also realized it was a 2 step process only after I submitted the common app. I doubt that that will be the dealbreaker

Quick question- so I just dropped a class for this semester (it was online with a horrible professor and I am super busy with two internships and other classes). First off, should I tell the admissions office? If I do, should I explain why I dropped it? I’m still a full-time student (12 credits). Will this hurt my admission chances?
