2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@arsenalforever , oh boy, I know what you’re going through as an international student…
It’s any person who is the advisor for your class, whether you’re a freshmen or sophmore. Go to your admissions office, I’m sure they can better direct you.

@arsenalforever I’m guessing you’re United Kingdom, judging be your username… if that’s the case, your counselor is Aaron Brown

Do u guys know someone who applied for transfer twice and got accepted the second time?

@quin97 @zettasyntax

@arsenalforever , sorry, misread your comment. I thought you meant your own school’s guidance counselor ^^". @penntousc is right, the name was listed on Counselors by region on USC’s website.

Do we have to complete both the CSS profile and FAFSA or do we just do one?

@Pantafootball both

Does everyone else have to do federal verification on the USC financial aid and tasks? Seems like a lot of pages to submit lol

@Pantafootball yup I had to. It really is a pain…

I think it’s really unnecessary for us to do the CSS which charges us money for each school we had … and we don’t even know if we’re getting accepted or not … like ???

Seriously. I hate the CSS.

Me: “I’m super poor and need money for school.”
CSS: “In order to get money from schools, you must pay a bunch of money to submit these annoying forms. And we will not offer fee waivers based on income.”

CSS offers fee waivers…they base it off the financial data you provide

“Students generally receive PROFILE fee waivers if their parental income is around $40,000 or less or if they have received an SAT fee waiver AND if their parents live in the United States.”

What’s this federal verification you speak of?

@penntousc after submitting the CSS and FAFSA, they sometimes will request you to fill out some tax return info through YouSC and submit copies of certain schedules from your parents’ 2015 tax return if applicable. Then, after you do that, they could still randomly choose you later and ask you to actually send in a copy of your actual tax return and your parents’ tax return for 2015… It is really complicated and annoying, but it is basically just them trying to make sure that everything you filled out on the FAFSA and CSS matches up with what is on your tax return. In addition to USC, I also had to do something similar for Michigan after submitting my FAFSA and CSS

@penntousc if you dont see that requirement on your financial aid tab then you must have been lucky to not have been picked . Or maybe all applicants need to do it … all I know is that I have to do it :frowning:

Anyone else still waiting for their USC portal? I applied on the 31st. I got confirmation from Common App that I turned it in, but not from USC so I’m worried they haven’t received my app + supplements

@kamtea I turned in my app before 31st. I got my you.usc already, but even on their it says I haven’t turned in anything yet, so your definitely not alone

@penntousc wow really? i am taking the second english right now but i have completed calculus 3 and am currently taking differential equations and Discrete mathematics. I have applied to viterbi so i think they would value science and math over english

CSS only provides few waivers for freshman. I know, because I was confused as to why I wasn’t offered one. When I reached out to them, they said they do not offer them after the first year.

“First-time domestic college applicants”

I.e. If you’re international or a transfer student, you are out of luck.
