2017 a selective year?

@Wannaboard , @Korab1 is right. But at most places, it’s a different pool from domestic kids. Schools want a mix of kids, and most need at least half to be full pay. Some more, some less, but it’s a reasonable rule of thumb. If they did away with so many of the amenities that most of us (FP and FA) swooned over when visiting, it’d be more affordable, but a harder sell. Especially to the FP folks.

If you’re interested, there’s a really interesting podcast called Food Fight in the Malcolm Gladwell series. It definitely made me think about the economics of colleges (and BS) differently. It doesn’t talk about foreign students specifically but about the need to have a certain percentage who can pay more.

While true, many, if not all, of the often-mentioned BS’s (and colleges for that matter), have a hard or soft cap on the percentage of international students will comprise a class.
