@Atria In case there’s any misunderstanding, placement tests are not really “tests”. I’d call them assessments. it’s the way teachers get to know where you are in key subjects so they can place you into the initial classes of an appropriate level.
Wait! @lusitari I didn’t get an email from Exeter, was it sent to parents
Good luck to all of our rising stars next year…can’t wait to hear about your BS experiences…kid2 will be applying, so I’ll want to know more ins and outs!!!
@midtowngirl perhaps. It’s whatever email they sent your acceptance to.
Yes, we need a thread about current experiences… @Nico.campbell and I will be starting a blog. @buuzn03
@midtown @lusitari SwimKid didn’t get an email either. Hmmm. @lusitari are you a new prep or lower? Maybe that is why.
I’m a new lower. However, I submitted my deposit last Saturday, and I know that they issue emails when they process the transaction. So perhaps they’re still working their way through all their enrollments? I’m sure they have a lot of work this week. :)) @momof3swimmers
@lusitari I’m guessing it’s because you are a lower. They want to make sure you have a chance to get the classes you need. SwimKid is a prep. Although we didn’t submit until Sunday night. That same someone probably would have waited till noon on Monday 8-|
@momof3swimmers wow, I’m in the exact same boat as swim kid! Hopefully we’ll bot get our course selections soon, I’m buzzing with excitement for the fall…
@AppleNotFar @GMC2918 the assessments are online and not proctored? I’m assuming they are timed and on honor system?
Yes @libaya - online, timed, honor system. Usually these are for Math & Language. In our experience, all other placement is based on current year transcripts & teacher recommendations (things that they already have in your file). If you’re starting in 10th or 11th grade, you may want to talk to the Academic Dean at your new school, to review placement for these other courses.
@libaya all I would add to @GMC2918 's post is that DC also took a music assessment for PA. PA also required a form to be submitted by the middle school (DC entered PA as a first time 9th grader) of completion of proof-based geometry if applicable (for DC it was).
@GMC2918 @AppleNotFar thank you. I think only math. And I have been in contact with math department. DS will prob switch languages.
Some of the older buildings have low ceilings and doorways. One of the freshman women dorms Squire Stanley is from Colonial Times (Washington slept there, no kidding).
