I thought I would start a discussion for those who are planning to attend the Invitation to Excellence for students entering the 2018-2019 school year. My D is going to attend the January I2E, and she will attend the honors college info sessions. Let’s share our thoughts and experiences. We can cheer each other on! Also - share where you are from. We are from Austin.
Dallas Metro area. My S is attending January I2E. Sounds like a cool experience. Is your daughter also going to a Distinguished Scholar event?
@cubmomtx – Yes - she is attending an event on Nov. 13 for the honors college.
San Diego. My D will attend the January I2E, if she can finish the essay by 11/1. We were invited to the Distinguished Scholar events but can only make 1 trip to Texas.
Do any of you have an idea of what the format is for the invitation to excellence event? Other than what is stated from Baylor?
We (Houston) dont have specifics yet but DD is attending the November event in a little over 2 weeks. She received a card/invitation in the mail but it basically said more details would be sent prior to the event.
@ccsouth – can’t wait to hear your thoughts about the event.
FYI, I2E info:
What to Expect on Friday:
Reception
The Friday reception will be at the Baylor Club, and heavy hors d’oeuvres and desserts will be provided. Business casual dress is appropriate. The reception is standing room only, so be sure to wear appropriate shoes.
Friday has no bearing on the faculty scholarship, but allows you to meet faculty and current students from across many majors at Baylor and hear about their unique experiences.
When you check in, you will receive a lanyard with your name and 4 business cards. These business cards are for you to hand out at the Friday evening reception should you have a great conversation with a faculty member or current student and want to connect with them after the event. The business cards are only meant to help establish and build meaningful relationships and are not used for any scholarship purposes.
You will have the opportunity to meet with faculty and current students from 50+ areas on campus. Think about some of your big and small questions regarding Baylor ahead of time so that you can make the most of your time during the reception.
What to expect on Saturday:
If you are not able to attend on Friday, you can check in Saturday from 8:00-8:15 a.m. in the lobby of Waco Hall.
Come see us outside of Waco Hall before opening session to try a yummy beverage from our local favorite, Common Grounds!
The Saturday morning session will be held in Waco Hall beginning at 8:30 a.m. You can dress casually for all events on Saturday. When you arrive on campus Saturday morning, you should park in the Speight Parking Garage.
Check the weather and plan to bring layers and umbrellas just in case.
Have a smart phone? Download the “Baylor University Guidebook” app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to access the e-program for our event. Once in the app, select “Enter Passphrase”. The passphrase is i2efall2017.

When you all say your child is attending in January, do you mean you’ve already received an invite?
We have applied for the January I2E but have not received an invitation yet. The I2E website says decision emails will be sent by 11/8.
Ok, just making sure. My daughter applied for the January event as well, so was just making sure email decisions weren’t already sent out
@sammyanntx —that’s right, we have only applied. We have not received an invitation. I was using the wrong language with that. Good luck to everyone!
Thank you for starting this thread; I was a bit worried:)
BTW, we are from Abilene.
Anyone get a decision email yet?
I haven’t! Getting kind of worried…
@sammyanntx ^^^^
@postAlone if you don’t mind me asking what are your stats?
We haven’t heard anything either. Good luck!
Has anyone received a decision yet?
