2017 Harvard Waitlist Thread

It's been about two weeks and I haven't seen this thread pop up, so I suppose I'll get the ball rolling. Like so many of you, I was not rejected or accepted, but waitlisted. I think it's a good idea to compile a list of waitlistees and their fates, like other years have done, so that future classes can look back for information. It'll also give all of us 2017 hopefuls a place to chat and ask questions. Please leave your name, country, and any unusual circumstances or hooks you might have. I'll keep the list updated.

United States (applied as international student), scientific research (published)

USA. only thing of note is perfect scores: 36, 800 800 sat2s.
(I have a theory that that’s why I’m on the waitlist: if numbers of students enrolled look bad I could bring em up)

So where will you guys be depositing on May 1?

Guesses from previous years generally seem to be that about 1000 kids decide to stay on the waitlist.

McGill for me!

I’m visiting Dartmouth this weekend just to make 100% sure I love it before I submit my intent to enroll. So… I kind of have nothing to complain about and feel a little guilty for even staying on the waitlist here. But hey, you never know.

Probably vanderbilt for me!

For those who have read through all the 2016 waitlist threads, did it seems students were alerted one by one through May/June, or were they told in bunches (like all in one day)- and if so, when were the few two releases?

From what I can tell, the first wave seems to come in the middle of May. The second one varies more, but is often in early June.

for my D:
US, perfect scores ACT 36, 2 subject tests 800, 4.0/4.8 GPA Leadership-MUN Sec Gen,captain of sports team, league champion. Internship/research in Engineering. One interviewer who said he gave her the best recommendation he’s given in 12 years. This past month-county and state 1st place Science Fair winner. Presidential Scholar candidate.
Happily going to Williams College-staying on waitlist just in case.

Jamaxmom, Congratulations to your daughter for all her accomplishments! She will, no doubt, succeed at Williams College and will do great things in life :)

Current student here. Don’t want to give false hope, but we’re all speculating yield will be kind of low this year because of recent events. A lot of prefrosh who were stranded on campus during the whole ordeal seemed upset, annoyed, and scared. I overheard one saying that she was “definitely Stanford now”. Waitlist acceptances should be relatively high.

Good luck to you all!
